The EPIC WIN Thread 3: SON OF EPIC

So, we're all going to ignore the ring then? It's a very nice looking ring, and I assume that congrats are in order, yes?

Good for you Dill66! And I wouldn't so much say I ignored it, but I read Halloween costumes and my idiotic brain immediately wanted to post what I was going as for the holiday and I forgot to give good tidings. This is how my ridiculous man-child brain works.

My trip to Jiazhaigou was fantastic. The only downside is my plane got delayed last night and I didn't get into Shanghai till nearly 3AM. Now no sleep later, off to work!

1. Started reading The Hobbit to our son. I think he likes Bilbo and Gandalf.
2. Took the training wheels off of his bike tonight and he got the hang of it in about an hour.

She said it was a promise ring, which takes nothing away from it's prettiness or significance, but it's not what you're thinking it is. *grins*

Hey! It's a pre-engagement ring at the moment. ;) My mom has the center diamond for the big shiny and we have to wait until the right time to ask for it. We're currently in the process of combining households and have no qualms against moving onward.

Per BC tenancy law, and the rental agreement we signed when we got our last place, if our security deposit is not returned to us within 15 days of our moving, we are entitled to double that amount. If we don't have it by today we will be getting, eventually, $2900 back to us.

If this had been a decent place, without any problems like the shitty neighbours downstairs they would do nothing about, the winter without heating and the broken dishwasher they refused to fix, I probably wouldn't persue it, but you can bet your ass I'll be doing everything needed to get that money.

Not my win, but my friends. He beat this jack-ass we both know at one of them Madden games at least 5 times in a row. Keep in mind the guy he beat...was a bro. When you beat a bro-gamer at a sports game, you know you can play.

This belongs in the minor victory thread at best. You say your friend won, but I say everyone lost because they were playing Madden.

We have adopted a new Pug. This gives us two, Prince Silk(8yo) and now King Louie(4yo). He has pretty much been adopted by our daughter, she's taking the main responsibility about him. His original parents had to find a new home for him because the husband lost his job and found a new one away from the area and the new place they are going to move to doesn't allow pets. He was broken up about it, but we're gonna keep in touch to let them know how he is doing.

This is Louie.

This is Silk.

I got paid! I finally started my new job at the beginning of this month, and the first pay cheque was supposed to happen on Friday (the 14th) and it did! In the correct amount too! So not only do I now have money (woo!), but I don't need to harass payroll people for the next 2-??? weeks.

Got to go to the beach this morning and watch a plane fly over.

Got a picture too. It isn't the best picture I've ever taken, but I'm still pretty happy with it. (The light wasn't particularly good and the flight plan was different than I had expected.)

Had a comedy gig last night with my improv troupe. We did a room that was filled to capacity on a Sunday night and we fucking killed it! I'm hoping the videos will be up soon.

The epic win, though? The owner of the venue was in the audience and he wants us to not only come back, but he's in talks with our business manager to make this a paid gig and move us to Friday nights!

In fact, this gives me a contest idea!

That event I mentioned a while ago? It's happening!

On October 12, the OHF in Washington DC will be doing a dramatic reading/performance of a handful of my fairy tales. I'll be there with a suitcase full of books. Sales are secondary though; I'm just honored that my stories are some of those selected for the event, and I'm interested to see how they're going to be adapted for oral telling.

So I just snagged myself a ticket to the Austin Comic Con at the end of the month:

After almost a solid year of unemployment (a few weeks here and there of odd jobs), I finally have a full-time job for 4 months starting mid-October!!! After that, there is a very good chance for me for a 14-month maternity leave replacement in the same organization (and in the same building, and even department, my wife works in!) After that, I'm told that there's also a good chance for me to snag a permanent position after that replacement is up! Things are finally looking up for me!

I just got home from a date. She messaged me through Plenty of Fish earlier this week. And....well, let's put it this way. The date started at 8:30. I just got in the door at 1:00 AM. We spent some time kissing before parting ways.

So yeah, I'm hoping to see her again. :)
