Rant VI: Now Drama Free

Stuck at the Tampa airport until God knows when. Ugh. What a rotten way to end my awesome Florida trip. But apparently, Ontario is currently getting throttled with a bad snow storm. So, I'm stuck here until at LEAST 9 PM and won't get in until midnight-ish. Fortunately, my roommate is ALSO stuck (in Halifax) and we may very well fly in about the same time, so we can split on a cab. Fortune smiles in at least one small way.

The other rant? My parents. They're CONSTANTLY at each other's throats, either bickering or snapping at each other over the smallest fucking thing. It's any wonder I grew up to have depression. In the airport restaurant before I went through security/customs, I finally let it all out. I told them that they should either separate (which they've BOTH talked about doing for years) or get counselling. I told them I'd much prefer the former and their reasoning seems to be that it's too late for that (Dad's in his 70s, Mom in her 60s, but you wouldn't know it to look at them, since Dad's STILL playing a lot of tennis and Mom looks more like her 40s). Anyway, it was really frustrating to be around them, which was all the time over the last few days, listening to them argue and snap at each other over the smallest thing.

Man what a weekend.

It started out alright I stayed up late playing games and had a good evening on Friday. Than fast forward to Saturday I had to go over to my parents house to pick up some of my old stuff I hadn't got a chance to pick up yet. So anyways it takes longer to get started than it should but whatever. So I get started on that and while I am getting my stuff my mom is doing something else and she loses her balance and falls. She hits her head (luckily she was on the carpet) and she couldn't get up. My brother who was nearest to her helped her up. She was in extreme pain she couldn't even walk by herself. But she didn't want to go to the Doctors finally after much arguing we persuaded her to let us take her in. So my dad and my sister take her in to the doctors while my brother and I watched my niece and finished picking up the house. One thing I was majorly concerned with was the fact that my mom has a a tumor near her pituitary gland and I was afraid that when she hit her head it may have made that worse in some way.

So I end up not getting to bed until after 1:00 a.m. and I have to get up early the next day so i couldn't sleep in. Anyways as far as my mom goes they said that she had a minor concussion and they were also concerned she may have had a stroke or a seizure cause her arm was numb and she was a bit out of it. So on Sunday I get informed that my mom is still in the hospital and they are running tests cause she was up all night in extreme pain and was still having issues. ( of course they still have no good idea what the cause of the issues are) So I have try to help my dad and the rest of my family that day while at the same time running a few errands of my own.

That night I was completely exhausted from the previous days and decide to call out from work on Monday. Partly so I could rest but mainly so I could be at the house in case they found out anything about my mom/needed some help with anything. As far as my mom goes they were still running tests cause she spent the whole night throwing up and was on nebulizers all night. (of course the doctors still have no real idea the cause) so they ran tests all day yesterday and she is starting to do better but they aren't sure if they will let her out today or not. So here I am at work tired, concerned about my mom, annoyed at the lack of concrete info the doctors were able to give, behind a day at work and generally annoyed up to the eyeballs.

Well I got a call that my mom will be able to leave the hospital today they said that she is doing better. They still aren't sure quite why it was as bad as it was. They are thinking it could have been the tumor that made it worse when she hit her head so they are contemplating removing the tumor sooner rather than later. But at least she will be able to come home today.

My sister is an idiot.
Reason 1- Last night the apartment of this friend of hers we don't know was busted with like 3000 dollars worth of drugs in it. Well, this friend and another guy we do know Mike, are on the run from the cops and they come to my parents house where my sister lives. My sister LET'S THEM STAY at the house. They were gone in the morning and my mom only found out because the mother of the Mike's girlfriend called and said that she better get them the hell out of the house. My mom called the cops and told them they had been at the house but were now gone. So they are gone and all's well that end's well I guess.. so far.

Reason 2- Back when my sister was doing a lot of drugs she and her friend Rob stole checks from Rob's grandpa and forged them at various places around town to get money for drugs. They got busted. Rob took all the heat for it because he is a minor and my sister, who was 20 at the time, was never really implicated in any of it. Both of them went off to rehab. Well, this was like a year ago and last weekend when I was home I was talking to my sister about it and she said "oh yeah you know I still have some of those checks." she went and got them from her room, sure enough there were these forged checks. That's just great let's keep evidence of a major crime in our house you goddamn idiot! She tore them up and threw them away.

Honestly I dont know what is wrong with that child.

This is a pointless rant....

Tomo is my 4th wedding anniversary and my hubby is in Arizona.....He thought he would do something special by ordering me an edible arrangement and having it delivered so I could be surprised........Now I bet everyone is thinking if it's a surprise why do you know about it? Well the answer to that is because he tried to order it and called me all upset and pissed off because turns out they don't deliver to my Neck of the woods and if I wanted it I'd have to drive thru downtown Montreal to go pick it up......Which would kinda kill the whole reason of doing it.

So that's my rant.......I live off tradition and each wedding anniversary has a tradition last year it was leather and Crystal so we managed to accomplish that........He got a leather wallet and My mom gave us her Crystal Vase which was her wedding gift ......The year before on #2 it was cotton and china so we got Towels embroidered with our names on it and anniversary date and bought China dishes from Walmart.....not real china but they we're made in China so we figured that was close enough lol. And Year 1 was paper and clocks so we bought special paper and wrote a special note to one another on it and My mother made us a clock with our wedding photo inside.......So this year number 4 is Fruit and Appliances.....

Can't afford appliances at the moment and well there went the fruit idea when edible arrangements decided they are to lazy to drive across the bridge to make our day special......I suppose when I wake up alone tomo I will go buy myself an apple and a slapchop close enough right?!

Argh.

So, there's this guy in my girlfriend's neighborhood who she's known since before I even met her. This guy is a /total/ dickwad. He put up a façade of kindness and a listening ear when she needed one and as such she thinks that he is her friend. On the flipside, however, whenever she is not in need of somebody to talk to he's treating her like total shit. Example; he cheated on his (now ex-)girlfriend by getting drunk and having sex with my (then-not-yet) girlfriend but now that his girlfriend broke up with him, he is completely convinced that my girlfriend has lied to his girlfriend about the whole ordeal, calls her a lying whore, etc. And this is not even the worst part. Now my girlfriend realizes that he's a bad influence on her (thank god) but she can't convince herself to actually break off contact with him because she's scared that she'll treat him even worse and because she believes that some part of him still cares for her as a friend.

And I'm too far away to do anything about it. Damnit, what does it take for this shitfucking bitchweasel to get the fuck out?

My coworker went on vacation for the rest of the week and I'm his backup. We run several reports based on SQL queries. He had all of his queries set up as Private so I couldn't run them. So he copied them to be public. Trouble is, he didn't SCHEDULE THEM TO RUN! Well it's almost 10:00. Time for the 60 year old janitor to roll by and talk my ear off. I like the guy, and I realize he's lonely, but man he tells the same stories over and over and over again.

New Rant: So ontop of it being my wedding anniversary and me feeling like shit. Why is it parentals feel the need to call me at 830am after knowing I went back to bed at 745 am to ask if I want tupperware? Yesterday it was something else she had to ask at 830 am...Also why is it that I have to run errands with her tonight and every thursday , and every saturday at 8 am? Can she not do it alone? Why do I have to go along for the ride? I just wanna eat fruit with chocolate but that got ruined when my hubby wanted to buy me an Edible Arrangement.....Turns out the fuckers don't deliver to my area.

I could go on about how i Have to take the trash out at 630 am or the recycling and how the bin has to be in before 3 pm or people have heart attacks but I have a stupid cold and am too tired to continue.

My rant is that it's stupid to appoint partners for classroom assisting. Talk about too many cooks... Every partner I've ever had is too busy to get together to plan a lesson, which means we have to plan it by email. I have no idea yet if my current partner is reliable... all she does is mumble and nod. And since I'm the more assertive partner every single semester, I always come off looking like an overly-aggressive bossy knowitall. Hey, one of us has to come up with the damn ideas. God, I can't wait for real student teaching, when I'll have no one to blame but myself for something not working out. I know they're trying to teach us the value of our colleagues and how no one in a school really works "alone." I get that. I learned my lesson. I cannot be an island. I know I'll be able to make nice at curriculum and faculty meetings. I've sat in on them, and a lot of them are useful. There are plenty of lessons some teachers wouldn't know about without them. ...Now let me be responsible for my grade and get this sucker out of my way.

That's the one and only thing good about being perpetually in debt - you never have to worry about what to get the other for holidays. My wife and I haven't exchanged gifts in a very long time. When we DO have money we do stuff and say, "This is your birthday!" or something similar.
