The custom map community is great. I've only been playing custom campaigns with a few buddies. Awesomesauce.

Also, I see that the game will actually be released Monday night rather than Tuesday afternoon, so I might actually use a half-day or something. I still have 3 and a half days of PTO I gotta use, so one for this wouldn't be the worst of ways to spend it.

You think that's bad? The Clown's squeaky shoes draw other zombies along with them when they start running. You can also tweak their noses with melee hits :D
 
For those of you who have pre-ordered the game, the game should unlock tonight.

Overall, L4D2 is quite different to L4D1... my major concern is that it runs poorly on my system (i get 2-3 sec freezes) while L4D1 I get max FPS. I don't understand since I can run any game at max settings without seeing lag. I feel that the demo is quite unoptimized, which is disappointing.

The graphics look more.... anime. I liked the realistic feeling L4D1 had... in 2... I dunno, it looks different. I'll let time judge this game.

The demo is very immersive.... I LOVE the new specials and uncommon commons (bulletproof!). The new cresendo is refreshing and intense. New items is awesome. ... The Machete is like AWESOME... I stabbed a zombie in the gut... and entestines came out. :confused:

I'll give the game a few days for alkl the patches to come out... then the demo will be stable.

Apparently the demo has massive issues with multi core rendering. Congrats SeriousJay, your top of the line video card can only be used like a mid to low level card due to poor implementation. This issue is all over their boards… let’s hope they fix this ASAP!
 
It's not a question that I was upset, more like, disappointed. I know they'll fix it but I didn't expect such major graphical issues coming from a company like Value.

I play the demo last night. It is pretty awesome. I love the frying pan personally (love the "gong" sound it makes when I hit someone)
 
I downloaded the demo to my shitty laptop. It played okay on Normal, but the moment it went to Expert... slogging lag. Still ran better than Versus on the original, but I imagine L4D2's Versus would do the same. Good comp just got dropped off at Best Buy; crossing fingers.

The opening movie did run fine and I gotta say, I was one of the whiners as far as new characters go. I like my original tetrad. However, the opening movie really endeared the new cast to me. I like 'em now. I like 'em A LOT.

The new atmosphere is cool too. The twang on the score, the daylight really changes things... I'm happy. I hate the sound of the Crushers and Jockeys, not in a "it's bad" way, but in a "that is fucking creepy" way.

This is gonna be a long two and a half weeks waiting for the full game.

Good news.. apparently some people data mined the game and found some sound files referencing the original four survivors. It's believed they will be part of a content pack coming down the line (There are two planned already) or possibly multiplayer options.
 
And it's offical: Survivors from Left 4 Dead are not dead or zombies.

My post kind of meant that, regardless of the originals, the new ones have endeared themselves and I'm happy to be playing as them. I don't really care if Francis, Louis, Zoey, and Bill come back, because I have them in the original game. I wouldn't object to their presence, but I like the new people very much.

I guess I mean, if they're just referenced, then it's not a big deal.

If we got the options to play as any 4 of 8, that would be cool, but they'd have to script new interactions or something.

Yea. I was in the camp that "why new people?" group, then I try them out and it is pretty cool. I love it.

I can't wait for the full version.

Played the demo tonight. Where was everyone? I got stuck in a game where the players were too stupid to kick a griefer. Why are people so reluctant to kick players who are team killing? This guy killed me because I said "stick together" and he called it whining. KICK IDIOTS OUT OF THE GAME!

That said, it was a lot of fun before that jerk joined. The sniper rifles are much improved, the melee weapons are fun (though it might be too easy to hit your teammates), boomer bile bombs are an interesting concept (I got to use on on the tank), and I like that the game has a nice fast pace. This certainly isn't L4D. If that was suspense-type horror, this is more action/horror.

So, what does the defibrillator do when you're not in realistic mode?
What is the difference between the two sniper rifles? Is there a tier 3 of weapons now?
Are there any differences between the melee weapons besides appearance? I played with guitar, frying pan and nightstick, but I didn't notice anything major.

There do seem to be 3-4 different types of weapons for each class. Looks like at least 3-4 autos, 3 shotguns, and 2-3 Rifles/Carbines. You also get 3 pistol types (if you count Dualies as a separate weapon).

Some melee weapons kill more than one enemy a swing, I think. The frying pan only hits a few, but the chainsaw and axe can tear through a lot of them.
