Full House was really fucked up.

Remember when Uncle Joey lived in the fucking alcove of the living room? That's really bizarre.

Then, when Jesse is going to move in with his fucking wife, he gets sad and decides they should live in this relatively normal for a family of 5 sized house with 2 other adult men and 3 other kids. His wife relents. THAT'S REALLY BIZARRE.

THEN, they have kids and CONTINUE LIVING THERE. WHAT THE FUCK!?

Hey man, sets are expensive

Honestly given today's San Francisco house pricing, I'm not sure that's far off from what would end up happening if your income is sub-6 figures. I can't remember what they all did for a living.

Danny was a television host. Jesse was a bum. Joey was a bum. Rebecca was also a TV host I think.

Oh fuck, Joey was a TV host through the series too.

Oh, holy shit, I just looked it up and Jesse was literally the most priveleged asshole ever. He did whatever, whenever then inherited a night club.

We just got an applicant for a job in my department.

As it turns out, this applicant graduated from my alma mater.

As it turns out, my old thesis supervisor wrote a glowing recommendation letter for this particular applicant.

As it turns out, my old supervisor is the ONLY PERSON in all of Taiwan who I'd acknowledge is better than me at English and translation, so I definitely like his recommendation.

As it turns out, this particular applicant is a really hot girl.

Me right now:

My wife wants a new puppy. We're home all the time so it's actually a very good time to get one. I found one I know she'd like from the Humane Society. $595. For a rescue dog. $600 for a fucking rescue dog!

I guess they don't want the thing rescued.

That’s a lot for a rescue dog. I used to volunteer at a shelter and we charged to help cover the cost of spay/neuter and microchipping, but never that much!

Puppies are expensive because everybody wants a puppy.

Adult dogs are cheaper, generally. The older the dog, the less the cost.

This is for a 4 month old mix. And I understand that puppies are more expensive, but this is $600 for a RESCUE dog at a humane society. And no, it's not a no-kill. So if it's not adopted by a certain time frame, it gets put down.

I mean, just because a shelter isn't no-kill doesn't mean it goes around executing animals as a matter of course. Most no-kill shelters stay that way by refusing to take problem animals. Our local shelter isn't no-kill and all it actually means is that if an animal is too sick or has an extreme personality disorder it might be put down, and they actually rescue a lot of animals that are problem cases and give them a chance.

When we got Pepper almost 2 years ago, she was also a 4-month-mix, but half that cost! And that included all the shots and procedures Squidley mentioned, AND she had to be driven up from Texas where she had been found and fostered. Are you looking at a specific breed/breed combination? I can't fathom why it's double the price, especially when things are notoriously $$ around here.

If a puppy is likely to be in high demand, the price will be higher because someone will pay it, and it can help fund things at the shelter.

Demand is high right now too, although I guess it depends on location. I remember reading news about multiple shelters running out of animals.

Now what I'd like to have right now is for you fat overweight Cincinnati sweat-hogs keep the noise down while I take my robe off and show all the women in attendance what a real man looks like.

I actually might like a dog, and it definitely doesn't have to be a puppy... But I checked the three places closest to me, and in all among the rescue dogs, there were 23 Staffordshires, 11 variations on Malinois, German, and Dutch shepherd, and 2 pitbulls.
None of those are fit for first time dog owners. Sigh.

You could get a Pud?!?!

Fake (or probably fake, this guy has posted for funsies stuff like this before), but surprisingly I used to live something like 20min from there.

I don't think it's fake so much as it's a skit. This guy's shtick is to take a real news story and interject his strange character into it. I first saw him as "weird satanist guy".

but also enjoyed his "weird geek guy"
