Psychonauts 2

It's DoubleFine, so I'm keeping my expectations low, but it sure looks damn pretty.

EDIT: Oh.... This could be very bad, or possibly good? DoubleFine is joining Microsoft.

At least the games won't be exclusive to Xbox consoles. He mentioned PC, so hopefully that means still publishing on Steam.

On the other hand, hopefully they remain their own thing without too much interference. I could be wrong, but I THINK Microsoft treats bought studios a little better than, say, EA.

To say I'm hyped is a big understatement. When it comes to CD Projekt Red, to things:

1) The Witcher 3 became one of my new all-time favourite games, in third place with Final Fantasy IV and Gabriel Knight Sins of the Father. If it was only a great game, then I'd at least look forward to this. But...
2) They also treated their fans very well with The Witcher 3. Constant patches, DLC that was either reasonably priced of FREE (an ungodly thought for any other publisher), and two great expansions, the second of which could almost be a sequel all its own.

The cyberpunk genre isn't really my thing, but rarely is fantasy, either. But so far, I like a LOT about this game. I liked hearing that you can approach the game multiple ways, including without direct violence (hacking like Fallout games) or even non-violently (similar to some instances in The Witcher where you could get out of a situation through his little mind control trick).

They said that the gameplay has changed quite a bit since that first demo tease we saw a year or two ago. Hopefully that openness is still a big part of it.

Cyberpunk is absolutely my favourite genre and I'm painfully hyped for 2077.

PS: If anyone has any cyberpunk book recs for me that aren't the normal Neuromancer etc. I'm all ears. I feel like I'm out of books.

PPS: Mahria "Nina Struthers" Zook is still the best thing about E3 (Keanu caveat) 3rd year running.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game (2009, aka "the okay one") may be getting a remaster.

All this is going by is a listing on the Tawianese game software rating website. The flimsiest of rumors, for a game that was a flop. As someone who has played through the game twice, though, it's not a bad game, and the story is a lot of fun. I think what really killed it's sales was terrible performance. This game doesn't run well on anything. If the remaster can fix that, I'll recommend it.
Remaster confirmed... but it's an Epic game store exclusive on PC. (Also coming to Switch, XB1, and PS4.)

Considering people paid for a Steam key they have every right to be fucking pissed. I don't even want the game and I'm going to pirate the shit out of it.

Yeah, that's basically the lesson now. Don't back games on Kickstarter or other similar services if you plan to get it on Steam.

I'm going to keep backing, but only developers (with a good reputation) that outright pledge not to take exclusivity deals after funding closes.

I don't know. Feeling pretty meh about this. The story is another oh no the world is ruined and we're all sad and stuff.

I'm just hesitant to get excited until we get a clearer picture of the gameplay. Apparently you can do both solo and co-op?

I like you a great deal Nolan North, but Nathan Drake Iron Man doesn't do it for me at all.

It's just a cinematic too, which is cool and all and I lurve Taskmaster but we know little to nothing about the game.

And with the FF7 Remake, it's been cooking for how long and we still haven't seen ANYTHING beyond the opening 10 minutes of the original game. At the rate they're going, I'd be surprised if the first part isn't ONLY the mako reactor.

They did mention that the first part is explicitly going to be just the part that takes place in Midgar. I'm fine with this, that was a huge chunk of Disc 1.

I'm still worried it will be too much Tetsuya Nomura AWFUL Advent Children-like garbage and not enough of the ridiculous silliness that was part of what made 7 so special.

So, the internet is now awash in "OMG Keanu Reeves" memes, and pictures pretty much portraying Keanu as the new Jesus, Chuck Norris and Jet Li in one go. Now, I'm not opposed to Keanu Reeves by any stretch of the imagination, but I think it's weird. It isn't that long ago that the internet had jointly agreed that he had the acting capabilities of a wooden board, one facial expression, no range, etc etc.
I always thought the comment was somewhat overblown, and I still do...But his acting really hasn't suddenly changed all that much. Are people really just that impressed with John Wick? I don't even think it's his best role
(To be fair, yes, you're allowed to change your mind about actors - I used to think Leonardo DiCaprio couldn't act his way out of a paper bag and was just a pretty boy, but now I admit he actually does have acting capabilities. I just think the turn-around is pretty surprising. I remember rumors about Keanu Reeves being in Star Wars and people having a heart attack over that destroying the franchise - now he'd be lauded and his praises sung all over.)

He's also well known as one of the, if not THE, loveliest celebrities alive. Dude is the ultimate good guy who's been through a lot of tragedy and is still the ultimate good guy.

In our age of Cosbys and such, let people celebrate someone like Keanu.
I'm perfectly fine with people celebrating/idolizing him. As far as I know, he really is a pretty good guy who's had a lot of shit. It's not really a complaint - just a "huh, isn't it funny how fast the collective changed its mind" sort of observational thing.

I think another part of it is that Keanu is a big star, and he features in movies that gamers will typically enjoy. (John Wick series, Matrix series, etc) Thus, in an era where game devs are increasingly trying to insert celebrities into their games, this big geek-friendly superstar will make bigger waves than other actors.

Other examples of movie stars having their voices and likenesses in games that I can think of include Burt Reynolds, Keith David, and Roddy Piper in Saints Row, Kevin Spacey in Call of Duty, Jean Reno and Takeshi Kaneshiro in Onimusha, etc. But none of these people have the star power of Keanu Reeves.

I'm not so sure about this. Not the same star power?

Another meh for me.
Interesting, a hybrid of FF12 and FF13 systems it seems.

Could work. I'm not against it. We'll see how it plays out against more complicated enemies. Staggering in 13 (and sequels, played through them) was very hit-n-miss for me. Sometimes the mechanic was great, sometimes it was a "just f'n stay staggered for longer than 2 seconds!!!"

His woodenness plays into John Wick's utter unflappability, so that helps, and the action sequences he does in the John Wick series are intense. And he's doing more humor here and there, particularly in You'll Always Be My Maybe - apparently he's hilarious.

Mostly its his off-camera kindness, his respect for the crew and stuntpeople who are so frequently taken advantage of, his humility, his self-deprecating humor.

And to be fair, Keanu Reeves would actually make sense for a serene but lethal Jedi Knight. It wouldn't fit the OT heroic saga type, but for grittier takes on SW like Rogue One he would actually be pretty good.

Also, Leo's stock is going down because he's a 44 year old man who refuses to date a woman older than 25.
