[Rant] Minor Rant III: For a Few Hollers More

It royally pisses me off that I have to go to the theater to see a movie if I don't want it spoiled.
Not only that, but you have to go to the VERY FIRST showing, otherwise you have to deal with the idiots who cruise by in the lot shouting spoilers to all the folks waiting in line for tickets.

I'm going to single player games for the next few days because some release a few years ago, can't recall what movie, people were spoiling during matches.

Have the car in for servicing today.
"It'll be done by 3pm" they say.
Get shuttle back for 3pm...
"It might be done by 4:45pm" they say.
Gah! I've been fed lies!
It's now 4pm, and I'm bored out of my skull.
And my phone is dying.

I got up an hour and a half early today so I could get my oil changed first thing.
Nobody would let me have the bathroom until my window had closed.
Gonna try again tomorrow but that means getting up extra early again...:(

The #1 reason I can never live with 1 bathroom ever again.

Currently having an argument with 'Julie' from Authors Press about why asking me to pay for them to represent me at Book Expo America is actually *not* a legitimate business enterprise.

Left 20min later than I had hoped (forgot my phone on top of everything else and had to go back), got to the place and was told they wouldn’t have it done in time for me to get to work, “...but if you’d been 15min earlier we could’ve done it.” Yes, thank you very much for telling me how much I suck.
There’s still tomorrow, third time’s the charm, and all that.

You ever have that co-worker who responds to every message in an email thread before reading the rest of the thread? Where it's already answered and taken care of? And then they also reply to other emails/messages without reading other emails yet which also answer said topics?

Read ALL your emails buddy, THEN respond to them.

I'm dealing with that today.

-My shift yesterday: 1p-10p
-My shift today: 8a-5p
...plus the usual 1hr commute each way in between.
-My 1hr lunch plan today: Stuff face as fast as possible and go to nap in car.
-Get to car with < 20min remaining in lunch hour. Whatever, I'll take it.
-Sitting in car, notice older woman standing next to nearby SUV with towel spread out on ground. Odd.
-Drive over to shady area, can see that under SUV is a cat who obviously does not want to come out.
-Walk over to investigate, discuss, discover not her cat, not her SUV, cat is actually injured, unhappy, and looks like it keeps losing consciousness. Husband is on the way.
-Manage to get cat to trust me enough to coax it close enough to roll it on its side on my arm, swing my arm out to deposit cat on towel, fold/tuck towel around cat for transport.
-About then, alarm goes off on phone. Nap time is over, time to go back to work!
-No nap.
-No time to arrange update with woman, whose husband is just pulling up to ferry cat away for either care & recovery or at least gracious farewell.
-No closure.
-Why I gotta be so helpful.
-Dammit. This is gonna haunt me all day.
-I just hope I increased its chances for survival, cuz neither of them were gonna be able to go under that car.
-Maybe I'll nap before I drive home.

I don't really care about royalty at all .But I don't begrudge other people their hobby - if they want to care what a bunch of rich famous people do, hey, their choice. I don't much care about celebrity gossip, either.
I do care about what's in the news and media, and think there's too much attention going to these random rich people squeezing out babies. But, you know, I can ignore that stuff.
What really grinds my gears, though, is that I've now encountered three different articles on three different big media websites all with titles like "Why do people care so much about the Royal Baby?", "Why is this Royal Baby such a big deal?" and "Why are people going crazy over the new Royal Baby?".

And, look, I live in a monarchy. I know royalty watchers. I know a lot of people who should technically care. And guess what? Even those people aren't all that impressed. This isn't a crown prince baby. This is a....seventh place in the line of succession? Or something? It's great news that they had a baby and it's definitely worth a few articles in the gossip or celeb or what-have-you section of your newspaper. But THE ONLY REASON PEOPLE CARE IS BECAUSE YOU'RE FORCING IT DOWN OUR THROATS, YOU DIPSHITS. There's a hundred better things to report about. Doesn't have to be big important stuff, we're all tired of talking about immigrants and transmigrants and the climate and the measles. But fuck, there's certainly *something* worth our time. There's elections in all of Europe in three weeks, maybe pay some attention there? There's animals going extinct all over the place. Fuck, I'll even take some of that pseudo-scientific BS about the Black Death being back because of anti-vaxxers (it was never gone, just almost; it re-surfaced in Mongolia where there are no anti-vaxxers and it was because they ate a diseased animal, which a vaccination wouldn't help with, anyway - and we don't even vaccinate for the Plague anymore, anyway). Nobody seems to care about the Royal Baby except the people going on about it. Please, tell me something I could potentially care about.

I am irate that you are the source to tell me about the baby, what happened Google? Twitter? Where were my alerts!

And ITS A BOY!

I tried to pay my ATT bill from work. But the fookers now demand two factor authentication. I forgot my phone today.

BASICALLY THE ONLY THING I CAN DO ON THERE IS PAY MY BILL!!!! If someone else wants to pay my damned bill. LET THEM!

I caught about 15min of CNN today during McBreakfast. Main story? Mueller/Trump hijinx followed by BREAKING NEWS this Royal mother is going into labour. That was what the close-captioned full-screen story was. But the news crawl? The slow sliding words along the bottom of the screen that nobody reads? “Scientists state we may soon see the extinction of a million species due to climate change and other human-related causes." "Country of Brunei institutes law advocating death by stoning for people engaging in gay sex, rape, or adultery (they're backing down on this, btw), world suggests boycotting their hotels in retaliation." Yeah, mass extinction and human rights violations are definitely stuff that should be relegated to the scrolling marquee "also-ran" category.

Probably because they aren't talking about HF 2FA.
Completely missed the AT&T post. I’d reset my read list and the 2FA complaint was the first one that came under new.

Oh well. Now I know where to find it in the Admin Panel.

Guess what I get to do tomorrow? That thing I couldn’t do today. So another 24+ hours of no eating. Stupid stomach that couldn’t take the prep. Now I have Miralax and Gatorade. We’ll see.

It's one of those days where everything that can go wrong does go wrong. I feel like I'm fucking cursed right now.

A few weeks ago, one of my teeth fillings came out while I was eating. So I found a dentist here and got it refilled. Cost me sixty pounds.

Two weeks ago, the new filling came out. Went back to the dentist, he filled it back in again, didn't charge me.

Now I can feel the filling getting loose again.

You'd think a dentist should be able to do a filling that lasts more than two weeks at a time.

...Are they permanent fillings? Because no matter what I say, ask or do, dentists around here always place temporary fillings first before replacing with a permanent one...And temp ones are around that cost, with permanent ones usually being a bit more expensive, but less visible etc. And temp ones are supposed to be good for a few months but don't ever last past a month with me, either.
