Random Video Game Crap

I managed to figure out the problems that I dead-ended on when I previously tried to set up a KF2 server myself on my own server. Now it's up and running, but only with the official vanilla maps. It's kinda odd running TWO servers for the same game - I've still got the "Halforums KF2" server through blue fang solutions, but as soon as I figure out what I need to do to put the same custom maps on the server currently calling itself "GasBandit's Killing Floor 2 Server," I can stop paying blue fang. That'll save me twelve bucks a month. It was a bit of a trick to get it to play nice with the L4D2 server on the same machine because they both wanted port 27015 for talking to steam, but I seem to have figured it out.

So, now I've got all three "servers" running on the same physical server. L4D2 and KF2 use so little system resources it's almost comical how much of a resource hog Empyrion is. Empyrion's DS "idles" at a couple % on the CPU and 2 gigs+ per playfield, and has once gotten as high as 50% CPU useage and using 20 gigs of RAM... by contrast, the KF2 dedicated server sits happily at 500 megs and 0-1% CPU at all times in all situations, be there no players or 8.

On a related note, KF2 servers have an optional "takeover" mechanic, which is to say, when a group of players decides to form a party and specifies what they want to play, KF2 dedicated server that are opted in to "takeover" will then step up to host that party using their desired settings instead of the ones I've configured for the server normally. I usually keep my KF2 servers opted in to TakeOver mode when I'm not on them, so that other people can play on them when they are sitting idle.

Thing is, when these people set a password for their play session, the KF2 DS web admin panel tells me what password they've used to lock my server.

A distressing number of those passwords so far have been variations of the infamous "N" word, usually misspelled. Paired with the sudden influx of new players on my Empyrion server that unironically use "gay" and "fag" as epithets, it's kind of disheartening. What is this, 1988?

It's alt-right white boys reveling in their perceived invincibility. Watch out for "free" helicopter rides.

Oh, Overwatch. You so silly.
Alt+F4 supposedly has SO many computing health benefits. You know, like mercury. Or X-rays.

See, I see something that looks like the first time Call of Duty might be fun in forever.

Oh, yeah, I just got to the same part Patrick did. Dang.

I probably should have watched the whole video before commenting. That second half. Wow.

Yeah, shit show.

So, you ever wonder whatever happened to Yandere Simulator?

.
.

Soo, TLDR version? After 5 years of development, the whole thing is a nightmare of spaghetti code lashing together assets taken straight from the unity asset store, the mod community is doing more for the game than the dev has been, and speaking of the dev, he kinda went off the deep end and turned into a massive shit.

So, yeah, RIP Yandere Simulator and all it could have been.

I am saddened that I will now have to wait a bit longer to play a game where I play a schoolgirl murdering other schoolgirls. This game sounds like it would've been right up my alley.

You'll be making this same post in a year about Empyrion.
