Random Video Game Crap

I don't think that games with "zones" and load times between areas (IE, WoW) should really be able to count the implied-but-unrendered space between their maps in that list.
WoW at least does a good job of hiding the loading screens. Unless you are using a form of fast travel, you can walk or fly across all of kalimdor without a single load screen if you want, from Teldrassil all the way to the southern tip of stranglethorn. The only time you really notice the loading is when NPCs you know should be there take a second to fade in when you arrive.

Yeah, but it seems to me that the video is counting all the "ocean" between the continents as part of the size of the game's "map," despite most of it not existing in-game. All the other games in that list, pretty much everything on the map represents a location where you can physically move.

Oh, yeah, no, that's bullshit. It's not like you can fly from kalimdor to northrend and have it work, they're not on the same map. Though, you can technically fly from outworld to the Draenei and blood elf starting zones

I followed a link to another video of the meme... One that completely missed the point. It was video of a female character getting fridged.

I think I saw that one. There were a number of people who missed the point of the meme and made other videos too. If the one you're referring to is the one I'm thinking of (getting torn limb from limb by a robot) that's actually the intro sequence to COD:BLOPS 3, which allows you your choice of gender as protagonist. I guess as sequels went by, they got more and more egregious, until they have to have their "Remember, no Russian/Playground Nuke" scene right up front as the first thing the player sees. So much for subtlety and storycraft, right?

It was one showing, I think, the beginning of The Last of Us.

Yeah, I think we're thinking the same one.

Here's the same cinematic with a male protagonist.

Everybody else, kinda... viewer discretion on this one for limbs being torn off and joints being bent backwards.

Pretty rad that Gabriel Angelos from the later Dawn of War games, the defacto chapter master of the Blood Ravens is getting a model. I believe the first named character to get a model from the Blood Ravens.

Heh, I tried to read the Blood Ravens book by CS Goto.

It was sooooo tedious. I mean... oh maaaaaan.

I didn't even get a quarter of the way through it.

I've been hearing news about AMD finally releasing specs and pricing for it's new Vega cards. For the highest end card they're saying 345 watts. That's about 100 more watts than my entire system draws under load, including monitor and speakers.

Or about as much as one Core i9-7900X processor.
But they cost half as much.
More info about specs and such here on Anandtech, as well as plenty of other places around the Web.

I am really having a great time with my new Oculus Rift + Touch room scale set up. I took a video of some Robo Recall gameplay. Experiencing it in VR is something else. Pretty much what I imagined a FPS in VR might be like.

The new Injustice 2 looks quite visually impressive. I'm liking the character lineup, too (and that list is missing Bizarro, Power Girl, Reverse Flash, and other future DLC characters already being hinted at)... but is it odd the one I find myself most impressed by is plain old Captain Cold?

His facial animations remind me a lot of LA Noire, only with less uncanny valley.

Power Girl and Reverse Flash are just skins for Super Girl and Flash, albeit with their own voices/lines/interactions. Mechanically they are the same.

Bizarro might be a superman skin, I haven't played since he was added, so he might be his own character.
