Random Video Game Crap

Because if they defend Gaben hard enough, for long enough, only they the faithful will be lifted up and allowed into the land of Half-Life 3.
Y'know what... I want this to be true so much, I'm tempted to post something defending Valve and Gaben right now.

I'm not religious, but I'm imagining this is largely what it feels like.

Jim Sterling, currently in the hospital for a gall bladder surgery, is so dedicated to putting out an Jimquisition every Monday, that he filmed himself in the hospital. As if my respect for him couldn't go any higher.

So in the 200 years since the war, survivors in Fallout sure haven't done much. Even established communities are crap. 200 years is a long ass time. Plus, we seem to have revived some tech but not others? Like we have fully mobile suits of power armor, but apparently brooms, paint, and agriculture are too difficult.

Full mobile power armor is solely the domain of the Enclave (who HAD a fully fledged society on an oil platform until we blew it up) and the Brotherhood of Steel (who don't want to share knowledge of it or a billion other things). Anyone else that's using it ether found a manual somewhere or figured it out themselves, but even they aren't doing much sharing. New Vegas showed that the NCR was basically cutting it up and making riot armor with it.

The soil and water are full of radiation, which is fucking with the plants and making it hard to grow, though it can be done. Most people just don't want to bother because of raiders; the NCR sharecropper program only exists because it has the military watching the plantation.

Fallout 2 had plenty of burgeoning societies, but apparently the west coast is the only place this is happening according to Bethesda.

That's pretty funny, but I dunno how good an idea it is for dead players to be able to continue to communicate like that :p I keep thinking "Maybe I should try PUBG" but then I always learn something about it that makes me thing "That would piss me off" or "That's not how a game like this should work."

For example - I don't think games like this should have a 3rd person camera option.

This is true until fallout 4, where suits of power armor are laying around everywhere, anyone can use it without training or maintenance, and even common raiders run around in fully functional suits with spikes glued to it.

There is no Fallout 4... they haven't made a game in the series since New Vegas.

And no one is going to convince me otherwise, dammit.

Fallout Gaiden: The Boston Commonwealth is pretty fun though, even if it's not an official installment in the series.

They are apparently going to add first person only servers

Whenever a game gives the server administrator an option to turn a feature like that on or off it just means that the servers with the cheap gimmick that everybody likes are the ones that have all the people.

That's ok. They're not the REAL players.
