What are you playing?

And for the studio audience, that's already 27% of my played hours (250) and Tinwhistler got it for me last august.

If things continue in this manner, by my calculations, she will overtake my playtime in 40 more days, assuming I still average 5 hours a day (4 hours/weeknight, 8 hours a weekend day) for that time. Sooner if and when I switch off to Darkest Dungeon.
I haven't played since January, though I'm sure it'll go back into rotation when my KSP run through is complete. I'm at 220 hours.

Bah, for some reason I still can't download mods at home from the Nexus, but I can on my work computer.

Looks like slacking off's back on the menu, boys!

Rimworld:

Rage is buying several monkeys from a travelling merchant with the intent of training them to carry supplies around the compound, and discovering only after the fact that, while the game considers them intelligent enough to train, it also considers them too small to be able to use the "haul" skill.

Look, shitfucker, if a HUSKY can carry 35kg of steel using its MOUTH, I think a monkey might can carry something with his ARMS.

Colony Manager is the greatest mod for Rimworld. Not actually having to micromanage the 5 billion chickens that I keep hatching is the greatest thing.

I decided to bring the zombie playthrough to a close, and the ship is almost done constructing. Probably will finish it tonight. Then I can start a new playthrough again, and I definitely plan for Colony Manager to be in there this time.

Ico: I have progressed ever so slightly forward and suddenly the shadow monsters just don't fuck around. I haven't lost Yorda to them yet, but it's been close. I'm starting to understand their tactics a little better, as well as their weakness for fighting on staircases.

I took some time to go over what my various SWTOR toons needed to be up to their level in terms of gear. Turns out, many of them were behind in one area or another.

Beliya Kolgotky, Imperial Sniper: Almost all her gear is custom, so she needed 7 armoring pieces, 8 Lethal Mods (Mods are either Lethal or Warding, Warding is for Tanks), and 7 proficiency (accuracy) enhancements.
Zhora Feral, Plasma Powertech (Bounty Hunter Tank): Tech Shield, Defense Relics, cybernetic implants (2), earpiece
Gunn'hildr, Assault Commando (Republic Trooper): Needed an entirely new set of armor, 2 relics, earpiece, implants
Pilara Torgrena, Gunslinger (Smuggler): 5 lethal mods, 2 relics, earpiece, implants
Vander'vecken, Scoundrel (Smuggler): 2 relics, implants, earpiece
Corvus Fitzroy, Telekinetic Consular Sage (Jedi AoE): New Set of armor (in fact, his new armor is why I'm posting, as you'll see), force focus, relics, implants, earpiece.
Tarth Vayder, Sith Immortal Juggernaut: Force Shield, Lightsaber, relics, implants, earpiece
Rusala Arkhot, Jedi Shadow Sage (Jedi Stealth): implants, relics, force generator

So I whipped up new armor for Gunn'hildr and Corvus. Now, Gunn'hildr had some cool Mandalorian Iron Asylum Armor, looked really badass. New set... not nearly as cool looking.

but that PALES in comparison to Corvus' new gear.

There's no nice way of putting it.

He has a penis hat.

Someone drew up that concept art. Someone rendered it. They modeled it. And somehow, at no point, did anyone go, "Hey, that looks like a dick, we need to fix that."

ABZU is an enchanting, beautiful game that draws the player into an emotional oceanic experience.

Probably. I can't tell, because either by design or some incompatibility with my computer, the little sensor things that float around the main character zoom at my screen and start to flash blinding white light over and over. I'm sure this would've given someone a seizure. So, that's uninstalled.

Got the soundtrack, which was the main goal, but I figured I'd try the game out since it's only a couple hours long. The game figured differently.

Tried to play Monster's Den: Godfall. It's strategic RPG. But holy shit is it ever a tough game. Every fight I had was a nail-biter. The last one was a random encounter with my 4 guys against 6 guys. TPK and I never got any of the enemies below half health. Well, I did, but then they'd all spontaneously heal to full while I only had one guy who could heal and even that was meager. I guess the game is like Darkest Dungeon with all the frustration but none of the atmosphere.

I'm going to start another game on super easy mode and see how well that works.

So as to not spam this thread as badly with Rimworld stuff, I've started a dedicated thread. Anyone interested in my new playthrough of RimWorld - Halforums (Tribal) edition, that's where I'll be making the posts :D
Your RimWorld posts have made me play RimWorld again when I should be working on my Math Courses! That being said, I kick started it way way back and have never ever regretted it.

Resident Evil: Directors Cut

I am in mother-fucking late Nineties HEAVEN!! Seriously, that cast call might as well have had the mighty morphin' power rangers theme behind it!

Holy crap the Elizabeth Green mission in Prototype was one of the most drawn out, tedious video game missions I've ever played.

Also it was no huge surprise that
Alex was the virus
but I'm confused because the trailer for the second game seems to reverse that and say that
it really is Alex after all
[DOUBLEPOST=1499644172,1499644140][/DOUBLEPOST]Also pre mutation Elizabeth Green is hot.

To be fair, I said it was inferior to Infamous. Plus it got much better. Voice acting is still terrible. Also I leave it on the pause screen a lot. Probably not the best computer practice.

Just started my very first play through of Brütal Legend, which I bought on Humble Bundle back in 2015 but finally got around to redeeming my Steam key for it while I activate all the stuff I got from this Summer's sale. I'm about 15min in, and it's suddenly become very distracting, because the first character Eddie meets, Ophelia, is very obviously voiced by the same actress who voices Leah from Diablo III.

Also the fact that [space] doesn't jump is something I'm still getting used to.

THAT'S where you recognize Jennifer Hale's voice from?

EDIT: Actually, sorry, that was unnecessarily snarky. I just find it interesting because Jennifer Hale's one of the most prolific and famous voice actresses in gaming, with her more well-known roles including Femshep, Bastila Shan, Rosalind Lutece from Bioshock, and so so so many others. You're the first person I've met who recognized her as Leah first.

Perhaps - I haven't played Brütal Legend - because of tone of voice? I know it's the same actress, but Leah and Bastila sound very different to me.

I don't know about "unnecessarily," or even "snarky." I haven't played Bioshock, Mass Effect, SWOTR, nor (I guess) So Many Others.
So yes, I suppose Leah was my first time encountering her voice, and you never forget your first.

Heck, it's also distracting that Doomfist's voice is done (for now?) by the same person who does the male Witch Doctor from D3.

Oh, I forgot to further mention that I saw the Tim Schafer play demo when It came out (this one: )

...three years before Diablo 3 was released but of course thought nothing of it since I didn't recognize her voice from anywhere else previous even though I'm one of the few who has seen Love Potion Number 9. Now, of course, I have D3 for context and I lock right on. It's like how every time I hear John DiMaggio I think, "Oh, it's Bender" because that's the first thing I ever really knew him from even though I saw Mononoke Hime when it was in theaters.

So, I've just started my third "playthrough" of Nier: Automata. This game is something fucking special. I can't believe they had the guts to do something this crazy.

This is an incredible game. And it's a game. It's the kind of thing that could only be done in a video game. It isn't a Metal Gear Solid (that isn't 5) that wishes it was a movie. This is storytelling as only a video game can deliver.

So don't spoil yourself on what's to come and finish that second slog through when it asks you to play essentially the same game over again a second time.

Just finished playing through Overlord (second time) with the Raising Hell expansion (first time), and I still really like the game, even though it's got a lot of flaws. The controls are kinda crap, the camera is awful, and it doesn't really make that good of use of the core mechanic of minions... but it's so much more fun than it is good.

The minions are absolutely adorable. I like the very dry humor in the game. The art style is pretty. And it generally feels good to make progress.

The biggest flaw is that most of the time it's more effective to do things yourself, rather than try to get your minions to do it. There needs to be more control over minions, but the game doesn't even try? The d-pad goes completely unused. As it is, there's not a lot of chance for strategy, because of how limited your choices are in quickly making your minions do things. All too often the best option is to just plant all of your minions in one spot and then do shit yourself. It kinda feels weird to say this but... Brutal Legend did it better (and Pikmin probably did, too, but I've never played Pikmin).

One thing I was kinda surprised at, there don't seem to be any 100% Corruption Let's Plays on YouTube. There's a guide to getting 100% Corruption, and several playthroughs where the players got 0%, even one that ended at like 40%, but no completely evil runs. I'm not even sure there are any where the player chose Velvet over Rose as their mistress.

I've played through as both. Velvet's more "fun," but Rose, well, Rose has red hair and more useful minion buffs.

Overlord 2 is better because you don't have to decide between mistresses. You can have them all. :D

Saw a PS4 go on sale for Prime Day today, and it's so tempting, but man, I'm still playing through Arkham Origins, Halo Reach, and Persona Q, and I have at least a God of War and my first ever Metal Gear Solid lined up on the PSP and Alan Wake on the Steam.

Oh well, I guess I stick to my "skip every other console generation" policy.

(Also, Overlord 2 reveals, no big spoiler really, that Rose was the canonical choice for Overlord 1)

Geneforge 1 has aged pretty damn well. Good story and combat mechanics, little to no hand-holding.

I hope Jeff eventually remakes this series, though. Visiting Sucia with Avadon's engine/graphics (or whatever he uses for the next game series) would be swell.

Fallout New Vegas

Game contains odd story feature that causes player's stats to become suddenly irrelevant, and for a white rectangle to suddenly appear before the character's eyes reading "FalloutNV.exe has stopped working". Feature seems to occur at random, and I cannot see the story benefit. Apparently I'm supposed to wait for an NPC named Windows to search for a solution, but he never finds it. I'm guessing this is a boss NPC. Can anyone give me any tips on how to defeat it?

(using the anti-crash mod does not help. Well I don't know. Maybe it is, and if it is, that's just sad.)

That's odd, I never had problems with NV crashing at all, even on windows 7. And I didn't even use the anti-crash mod, didn't even know it existed. I assume you've done all the usual "compatibility mode/additional permissions" things? Just a wild thought, too, have you tried creating a steam folder that isn't in program files, and moving the game there?

Well in this case, I know I'm far from alone. There are many posts on the internet about how buggy and crash prone the game is.
