Your routine! It is destroyed!

--Patrick
Sleeping in for the first time in weeks - breaking my routine - was the Christmas gift I was most looking forward to. Work invading my dreams ruined that.

Here's hoping Boxing Day works out, because it'll be the only chance for another few days.

Argh. The usual third shift problem with getting to the movies. I'm off tonight, slept in till about 10:30pm, and still haven't finished my "morning" coffee. The theaters are never open before it's time for me to go to bed, and by the time I'm fully functional on nights off, they've already closed. And even when I do get the rare chance to go, I end up in an empty auditorium. No fun there.

And this weekend I'm much more in the mood to fiddle around with my new (to me) turntable and the stack of records I've bought but still haven't played.

The Force Awakens may have to wait for home release. :(

I have had a similar problem working for a retailer in the christmas season. I was suppose to go tonight but had to work late and couldnt get off in time. :(

I'm a social curmudgeon, but I guess I can't see what you get out of seeing it in the theater if you're by yourself. Especially now that home screens and sound are so good.

I like the theater atmosphere, but if someone doesn't and prefers an empty theater, they still get to see the movie. And they don't have to wait for it to be available for home use.

Can't afford any kind of home theater.
Theater seats are usually more comfortable ("stadium seating" and all) for a long movie.
Theater atmosphere means I'm not interrupted by home stuff. Kids, home, chores, etc.

And as for timing, it's so much easier to just pop in just as the movie's starting if I go alone. And I can just go when I'm available. And I don't have to listen to people munching on popcorn.

But then I haven't actually been to a theatre to watch a movie in more than 2 years so @fade might be right.

My first thought - That looks awesome!

My next thought - Omg people would fall asleep and snore. What's the theatre etiquette for that?
You are allowed to use a lightsaber to remove anywhere from one to three of their limbs, depending on the volume of the snoring.

I imagine keeping those clean is a real pain in the ass.
This was my first thought, too. It LOOKS really cool, but the more they get used, the more it becomes like apartments of college-aged guys whose moms cleaned up after them at home, so they never learned. You wonder if there's a way to comfortably hover above the couch without making contact.

It's a BYOB theatre (bring your own bleach).

Just don't bring a black light...

I've actually been to the theatre twice. The couches and love seats are completely covered with fuzzy quilts that I'm sure they remove and wash on a regular basis. Not actually that hard to keep clean.
