Especially now that we have social networking, so if I'm wondering "Oh what happened to that guy?" I can just go on Facebook and check his profile, and see that he's recently quit his job as a banker to start his own company making 3D-printed anime figurines, and that he divorced his wife eighteen months ago but is now dating a woman twice his age, and they're going to try for a baby soon, and he lost most of his stuff in a house fire last year, but now he's embarked on a Zen Buddhist philosophy of letting go of worldly possessions, so it all worked out in the end.

So I guess he's fine, huh.
Hey, you know Steve too? Small world, man.

I'm no longer blonde and its weirding me out. I went back to my real colour, which is almost black, to cover the damage from the temporary purple crap.

My daughter loves it and told me that I didn't look like a real mom blonde...thanks I think?

Every time Planet Fitness sends me copy instructions, I do a double take because at first glance I think it says "Planet Express." Every. Time.

As of today, I have a teenage son. I feel like that makes me old. At least in parent years. Also, leftover frosting from frosting the cake makes a legit breakfast right?!

Oh hell. That made me do the math, and I'm as old as my father was when I was a teenager.

HOW IN THE HELL DID HE
HOW IN THE HELL AM I

I'm 30. When my dad was 30, I was 6 and my brother was 4.
I should also preface that my folks got married when he was 20, and she was 19. They got started early. Dad says there was a little pressure on him, when he was taking his finals in med school, and it occurred to him that he'd never actually technically gotten an undergraduate degree as he got into med school early, and his high school (in Australia) never actually sent him a diploma, so if he bombed this final, he'd have absolutely no credentials whatsoever, not even high school, after all those years of additional education, and a very pregnant wife in the hospital with an overdue baby.

My folks met in the Navy, married when they were 23 and 22, I was born about a year later, give or take a month. Spent a lot of time at my grandparents' house when I was really small as my folks didn't swap off active duty till a little after my brother was born.

I'm 38. I was about to graduate high school when my dad was 38.

The oil and gas industry's parental age is weird. My son's friends all have parents who are old enough to be their grandparents. And it doesn't matter if they're foreign or American. We are the youngest parents in my kids' peer groups, and I feel like we started late.

I had my son 2 weeks before my 22nd birthday. We got married a year after my son was born. I felt very young around other parents with my son. My daughter is 3.5 years younger so I feel a little more on par with some of the parents, but those are the ones whose kids are also their oldest.

Given the housing/job market in our parent's day as opposed to today, it's not surprising we started having kids later (on average). But now that you mention it, when my mom was my age, she had a freshman in high school. Then again, when my dad was my age, he had an 8 year old, which isn't that big a leap compared to an (almost) 3 year old, so whew.

My mom was the same as well. Celtzy we are like twins. Same age, same mom age, same hair color. Sadly I did not marry an Asian banana.

One of my flirty co-workers heard I have a brother, and wanted to see a picture of him, so I dragged out that picture of my brother and I when I was 19. She was all "wow, look at you" etc etc, and I of course made the same joke I did here when I posted it "Yeah, see, I was fly as hell. I have no idea why I wasn't dripping in bitches!" And she said "Probably because you're so mean."

Ow!

Ow!!

Hey now, women willing and daring to say the truth to your face are to be treasured. So, she's flirty, huh? :p
Yeah, but she's also
1) in a relationship
2) kinda my subordinate
3) below my X/2+7 threshold

and I'm also
1) a mopey sadsack still not over the last gal who spoke truth to my face.

I was teasing--thought you were joking around. But it seems like it's a sensitive topic. Sorry.
It's alright, it's no secret I have a mean streak in me. I've just been trying to tamp it down for the last couple years, as opposed to indulge it like I did the previous 20 or so.

Man, I thought Jun was asking if I wanted some frozen banana ice cream. She literally just handed me a frozen banana. WTF Jun.
