The EPIC WIN Thread 3: SON OF EPIC

Welp, after years of thinking about it, I'll finally be joining the PC master race this year. Thanks to a bunch of Black Friday deals and a friend who works at Newegg I was able to piece together a fairly solid gaming rig for sub-$350.

Now I just need to wait until Christmas to put it together and use it.

My new camera makes it's own wifi network and I can link my iPad to it and control my focus, settings and shutter from it!!

Oh camera nerd joy!
A camera that IS its own wifi host (router and hotspot didn't sound right as I doubt it's a gateway to the internet). What a time to be alive.

Did I just hear you say, "I'm giving my old camera to stienman!" ?
Why do you need a camera?

Been able to do the ad-hoc thing with 3rd-party SDHC cards for a long time now. About time the camera manufacturers finally woke up and stopped their "make a controller that only works with this one camera" crap.

It asked me to name my camera and now "my baby" is a wifi option for both my phone and iPad. I have no idea if it's a proper surfing the web connection though.

Sadness: my wife is going to be gone and stressed out most of next week due to final exams.

Consolation prize (and epic win): she decided to let me make and play with my Christmas present early. Behold: The Budget Beast!

PC has been assembled; now I'm just waiting for Alien: Isolation, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Outlast to install!
Remember what memory that is, you'll want to get another one exactly like it later to speed things up. That processor still supports two memory channels, so you can gang 'em together for increased performance (above and beyond what you get from just doubling your RAM) once you scrape together another $45.

Incidentally, for anyone else looking to build a system, if you don't actually need three or more cores for whatever you're planning on doing, the G3258 is THE processor to have right now.

It really is an awesome little processor. I've overclocked it to 4.1 GHz on the stock cooler and it's hovering right around 60C.
