They're "revealing" raiden's going to be in Mortal Kombat? What's next, they gonna "reveal" they're spelling Combat with a K?

No, Raiden's been playable in almost every MK game.[DOUBLEPOST=1405467944,1405467822][/DOUBLEPOST]I think the most pertinent question is this.

Is that Ogre from Tekken he's fighting?

Oh, I might have been thinking of, uh, Liu Kang, maybe? I think he died in one game and was gone from the roster?

Shit I dunno, I haven't played an MK since the first 3D one with weapons.

Liu Kang did die in Deadly Alliance. His zombie then became a playable character. The less said about Deadly Alliance up until 9, the better. There's a reason that they flushed all that continuity in 9.

They're trying to build hype the way Nintendo is doing with Smash Bros, but the thing is that the Smash roster manages to be unpredictable and anticipated because there are so many popular characters who could be in it, since it's a cross-series mash-up. You can't really do that with a single source fighting game. I saw a parody of the Raiden announcement before I even saw it in actual gaming news.

I'd also like to note that it was whoever are posting the video to youtube that refer to it as a "reveal", never once in the actual footage does it use that terminology if it gets your panties in that much of a twist.

Also, here's a better version.

I doubt anyone's upset; it just invites mockery, and that's what it's getting. Again, first time I heard about it was a from it being made fun of; didn't even know about the video beforehand. But yeah, the reveal part that would suggest it's unexpected is only in the title, so blame the marketing, not the ... marketing?

To be fair, they did release a Mortal Kombat that didn't have SCORPION in it (Mortal Kombat 3), and he's half of the main mascot ninjas for MK. So anything's possible.

It's possible for them to cut Raiden, but that would be more of an announcement than Raiden being included.

Doing the Smash Bros route only works for other cross-over fighting games, like Marvel vs Capcom, or ... the other ones. You know them.

But they aren't. They're doing a gameplay trailer.

The screen at 0:11 calls him...Kotal Khan? Who I assume is related to Shao Kahn in some way? And that when they were growing up Shao Kahn used to bully him mercilessly over his stupid, stupid name.

Metal Gear Solid just gets weirder and weirder as the series goes on. I was discussing it with a friend and I think the strangeness of the series can be summed up like this:

"Defeating an entire squad of Spetznaz soldiers in close quarters combat using non-lethal takedowns, or a harrowing ten-minute firefight through a burning oil platform while dragging a wounded buddy to the safety of the extraction chopper? Cutscenes. Taking creepy-ass fetish pictures of dying women, molesting enemy troops, and occasionally having your character jerk off to pinups? Totally interactive."

Club Nintendo Elite Rewards 2014

Pretty disappointing. Last year there was some cool stuff, and I encouraged my wife to build up her rank for this year along with me. I was expecting Nintendo memorabilia or soundtracks or something, like they've had in the past. There's nothing here she would want for her Gold status.

Sorry what fetish pictures? Haven't played the mgs games since I don't like capcom
Eeeh, when it's not EA, I have a hard time saying no to games simply because of the company involved. I'm not going to not play Dead Rising just because Konami is involved.

Same shit
Uh, no. Very no. Konami and Capcom are two completely different companies whose only commonality was they both were excellent NES game developers 25+ years ago. Do you just not like Konami because of the direction they went with Castlevania games or something?

His posts and replies have been very terse lately. In my mind, he is trying to condense his thoughts into the most tightly compacted, quickly deliverable packages possible, because he can't get an instant to himself as his daughter constantly toddles from one potential disaster to another, and daddy has to intervene.

To be fair, they had a lot of solid work on SNES and even PS1 and 2. I think last gen is where things started getting weird and bad.

You're supposed to have a GTX 770 or better to use DK2, minimum.
You have to halve the framerate, so you have to be able to get 120fps reliably in order to get 2x60fps stereo.
Either that, or it's the innate bias the world seems to have had (since the FX5xxx series came out) about preferring to use NVIDIA cards for 3D.
