Whine like a baby, now with 500% more drama!

Got the last of the W2's from all 3 jobs I worked last year, entered the boxes into TurboTax, expected to get a couple hundred back like last year, since I only earned $1000 more but lowered my exemptions so that more of each paycheck would go straight to the government.

Nope. TurboTax says I owe over $600 to the Fed. I'm just going like WTF and gotta go over everything compared to last year to see what changed.
Are you in the states?

Higher marginal tax rate?

Did your tax rates get bumped?

Did your employer make an error in deductions? Mine makes all kinds of pay errors including not paying at all.

I am not sure what caused it, but i actually flat out fainted at work this morning. not sure if its the lack of food in the last 4 days, the stress of recovering from my influenza(which i am still sick with), or just still not feeling really well. but despite my general mangers groans of protest I went home after cleaning up my mess. Ive been in bed resting all day, have been drinking Gatorade and just trying to keep my spirits up.

What was your manager thinking? "There's a risk of this guy losing consciousness over the course of the work day, but I'm sure that won't prevent him from doing a fine job with his work today, let's keep him here."

I received an application from someone who wants to join our company, specifically my department. She's got the right educational background and professional experience to work for us, so normally I'd say let's give her an interview, except she also indicated that she's based outside of Taiwan and thus would only be able to work remotely. That's not really what we need, because our editors generally have to be on-site to respond to cases quickly. So, unfortunately, it looks like we won't be able to hire her.

Apart from not being able to fix the continuing manpower shortage we have in my team, the primary part of my whine is that I did a bit of rudimentary social media stalking and found her picture, and by Jove she is soooooooooooooo hot!!!

So she's the co-worker so hot she can't even begin to work with you before getting chased away? Sheesh. Must be hot indeed.

Pretty much, yeah. Like if I had to describe her, I'd say she's a prettier and slightly curvier version of Vina Sky.

Also if you don't know who Vina Sky is, she's a porn star, don't google her at work.

Good thing I'm not at work! To Google!
...ow, vasectomy yesterday, dammit!

Our boss is super liberal about working from home which is awesome when I’m sick and all, but awful when ridiculous proposals get far more consideration than they deserve. If dudes who have worked with us for over a decade want to telework often and they’ve proven their worth and ability to get things done? Sure. New people who haven’t started yet? Come on. Last year, people actually had this as a “demand” to work for us.

Yesterday I went in for a vasectomy, a cystectomy in the same area, and having my frenulum cut (the but connecting foreskin to gland), which was a bit too short.
Because of the cyst, I was completely under.
Kind of hurts today, but what's worse is - they forgot to do one of the three, so now I get to go back in for another procedure next month. Whoop-de-doo.

Well, no need anymore for a new AMA I guess.

Ouch, man. That is a lot of things to happen to your junk in a short amount of time. Sending hugs and bags of frozen peas your way!

Oh the joys of winter.

Here's my whiney text to Eriol from earlier this evening.

For context this is after snow blowing the 300'(? Maybe 300 meter. 300 something.) very sloped driveway.

Ok, so the driveway is now clear.
I didn't take your advice.
On my second strip down, ran out of gas.
Back to garage.
Can't get first gas can open.
.
Get second can.
Fidget with it.
Finally get it open.
Praise Jesus!!
Haul it down to the blower.
Open gas tank, open can, put on nozel.
Pour.
Nothing comes out.
Eh?!?
Pour again, up higher this time.
Nothing happens.
Take spout off to pour directly from can.
See seal still on base of spout.
.
Remove seal, reattach nozzle. Pour and fill gas tank.
Try to pull start.
Nope.
Try a few more times after priming the tank.
.
Push blower back up to garage, plug back in, push to start.
Finish clearing driveway.
Go back and get gas can and return to garage.
Look at driveway. Note shredded papers littering it. Assume I ran over bundles of junk Flyers in the snow.
.
I'll start dinner in 15mins.

The side with the vasectomy and cystectomy? Slightly sore and sensitive, but OK.
The side with just the vasectomy? One whole big black-blue-purple mass swollen to two times the normal size.
I'm seriously wondering if they didn't hit something they weren't supposed to on that side, 'cause yowtch. Keep those frozen peas coming!

Woof, I hope everything goes well the second time around and you feel better soon!

To continue the TMI nature of this thread, things started to hurt more again, and I went back to the doctor today. It's definitely not ok, but he's unsure what's wrong - either an inflammation of the vas deferens, or an internal bleed in the vas deferens. Heavy anti-inflammatories now, echo and further checks in the hospital tomorrow.
In the category "operations where you don't want complications" a vasectomy rates quite high :aaah:

I can tell I'm getting old when I tweak something in my hip just from standing up, and it still hurts the next morning.

Seriously whiny? For both my birthday last year and then Christmas, I got the "I'm sorry, but I was so busy I didn't have time to get you anything." from my significant other. The kids ordered me gifts on Christmas Eve and gave me print outs to open. I've already mostly gotten over it, but it still sucks. We are very busy, especially in the Fall, but it still makes me feel kind of like I don't matter.
Ok, so my birthday was Tuesday, and my poor wife woke up in a panic and immediately ordered me an office chair for a present. At first I was put off, but now I've realized this is a blessing in disguise. Why? Well, today I'm getting a raspberry pi and memory card in the mail, which will be the first step in building my own arcade machine. Ordinarily I don't spend money on myself, but at this point I'm just treating it as getting the things for myself that they didn't have time (or remember) to get for me.

I know housing is fucked up in this country in general, but YIKES finding a place to live is hard! :( Nate and I want to move, the place we live is tiny (400 sq ft), but I'm having such a hard time finding a place and trusting said place. After my last apartment experience, which wasn't great, I'm so nervous picking out a new place. AND ITS ALL SO EXPENSIVE, like..a lot. If you're not a student, housing here is....woof.

I just want a nice, safe, 2 bedroom place that doesn't cost me my soul is that too much to ask??

Housing in Texas is still pretty affordable, even though it's doubled in cost over the last 20 years or so. So long as you're not living in any of the big cities (and that goes triple for Austin).

What type rates are you seeing there?

Like per month? All sorts. Sorry, I'm kind of uncomfortable talking about my finances in specifics. :/ I don't work, Nate is a rockstar and his job pays well enough that I don't have to, and we're fine financially where we're at, but finding the right place to move to in our budget is a pain in the ass. Our budget is sizable, as far as rent is concerned, but it's just low enough that we can't get anything, we need to be smart about it. And with my concerns about apartments/townhomes/complexes it's difficult. Here's a ballpark - if we were to try and buy, most places are around $230,000+, there's a few townhomes for around $215,000, but there is pretty much nothing under $200,000 and that's crazy to me, especially for 'starter' homes. I saw a house on the market for $230,000 and you can see the foundation sinking in the photos, the porch is visibly crooked. I CANNOT.

EDIT: Most nicer places here run around $1,200 for apartments, slightly more for town homes.
