Whoa, you're really cool.
If you think that is what I was implying in my post, I really wonder whether American schools make their students take reading comprehension tests at all.

Why does French = better? I thought French = made by French people, and carried no inherent value.

I love it when nerds make sassy comments about "reading comprehension tests" on the internet. I also find it weird that people think it's badass they haven't seen any of these movies (or the Super Bowl) for that matter. REAL COOL GUYS.

But anyways, I won't be watching the Oscars, because they're usually pretty boring. They do give me a reason to play catch up on all the movies I've been meaning to see, but haven't.

Let me know if Drive wins Best Picture. Because I figure if shitty movies like The Help and Extremely Loud can get nominated then anything is possible.

Can you point to where I said I was "bad ass"? Or for that matter, "cool"? I am really curious where you and Charlie are seeing that. Is it in very small type that I accidentally wrote in while having a stroke of some sort? Cause I don't see it. Little help?

I said I haven't seen the movies, and the implication was merely that because I haven't seen them, I have no investment in the Oscars this year. How, in any way, is that the pompous statement you are making it out to be?
I was actually very interested to see more of the Oscar nominated movies this year than I have in quite a long time (Hugo, The Artist, Drive, Moneyball, The Descendents, and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy all look very good). But I don't enjoy seeing movies like these in theatres where the experience is always sub par, so I will wait for DVD

Oh, also I missed one when I said that initially, so I better correct myself. I saw the Muppets.

To be fair, Juski was most likely referring to a certain type of person, not so much you personally.

I didn't see any best picture nominees this year, for like the first year since I've been an adult. Kind of weird. Not that I didn't want to, I just didn't.

I'm really glad Drive was up for something, how it didn't make cinematography is kind of fucked to me.

I feel bad that John Williams is nominated twice in the same category. When that happened for Munich and Memoirs of a Geisha, Brokeback Mountain won. Brokeback Mountain's score is utter shit compared to either of those.

Specifically I was laughing at the reading comprehension fail part of his post, but bitching more generally about people in general for the rest of it. Punching the enter key once might have made that a little less direct towards the hat man.

I'm with Frankie, just haven't gotten around to seeing any of the movies in play (not counting the Help and Extremely Loud that I specifically avoided).

Pity. Genuinely intended to see the Artist and Midnight in Paris beforehand, but it's not like I won't be able to catch them post-Oscars in some form.

I'm most disappointed I didn't get to see any of the films in the best animated feature category this year. I especially really wanted to see Kung Fu Panda 2. I heard surprisingly good things about it from my friends, some of whom were, you know, not exactly big fans of the original, either.

Fair enough. It was a lame jab, by my own admission.

Gary oldman got robbed! robbed damn it! and tinker tailor got nothing?! not even best adapted screenplay? bullshit on toast.

Still, I'm glad rango got best animated.

I was a bit shocked by her win. As for the film, I've only heard that the film was bad, but Meryl played the part well. I think her win was more along the lines of, "what do you mean she has not won one in 30 years?"

My blind predictions were pretty far off.
On the small categories, yes. On the main ones, no. You were right on.

The Oscars are nothing if not predictable. A French silent black and white movie being judged the best by a bunch of old white guys who pine for the golden days of yore? Who would have thought that would happen besides literally everyone?

This is the first year that I've seen NONE of the nominations/winners as of yet (actually that's wrong, I saw Rango a few months back, it was OK). That will probably change as these movies make their way to the Movie Network over the next few months. I will however make no voluntarily attempt to see any of them for the sake of some over hyped Hollywood award show.

I also didn't bother to watch the show at all.

Felt great.

Man or Muppet was the funniest song-related moment in the movie to me (I just sang a whole song about it..), but I felt there were many others more worthy of the nod. As Charlie said, Life's a Happy Song was great

I thought Man or Muppet was stupid. I was thinking, come on, wrap it up, this really drags, when I was watching the movie. It might've been good if it was about a third as long.
