IMO Enterprise gets a bum rap. It was better than voyager, Mellencampish theme song and all.

It's later seasons were. But it's got a lot more just... god awful, really fucked up episodes than Voyager. Sure, Voyager had Threshold, but it doesn't have the sheer disposable savagery that is Dear Doctor.
Say what you will about the song, but it'spretty catchy.
It's actually even the reason why i stopped the channel hopping to see what the show was...
That being said, when the Klingon showed up is was still surprised, even tough i saw the name of the show already...
I was all like "Wait, this is the STAR TREK Enterprise after all, not just a name coincidence ?"
Yeah the ethics of Dear Doctor were...SHAKY to say the least(not to mention how it would've made more sense as an early Voyager episode).
But MAN...."A night in Sickbay" was so gross and boring that not even Phlox's anecdotes about home could legitimize it. The words "Dog funeral" and "Sex dream" should NEVER be put together in the same sentence.
Almost done season 2, and I'm just god damn reminded of how fucking insane the first two seasons of a Star Trek show can be!

And skipped over to Star Trek Discovery because I'm a weirdo who doesn't watch things in order and it BEGS the question...how many more secret siblings DOES Spock have? So far only two, but knowing how private he keeps his family life, for all we know there's a SCORE we don't know about.

AND just got to "Cogenitor" on Enterprise...really glad the next episode has the Borg in it, because I need...a pallet cleanser. Jesus Christ the first two seasons were beyond up and down, even more than early Voyager.
I finally got a chance to catch up with all current episodes of Daredevil: Born Again and will be joining the din of those shouting praises. I love the tense moments as it's really hard to tell what direction an M rated Marvel show will go. I did note that Episode 4, while a fun episode, has a jarring tonal change from the rest of the season.
What tonal shift would that be? I thought you meant episode 5 and I was going to say that it really just serves as a bottle episode and palate cleanser before diving back into the heavy, but I feel like 4 is pretty tonally even with the rest of them.

My girlfriend finally sat me down to watch the first episode of Dexter, one of those shows that I never got around to watching. And I don't think I'll be continuing, after the first episode.
My problem is that everybody other than Dexter is just SO stupid. All of them. He just floats effortlessly around through his serial killing because... other killers? Dumb. Other cops? Oblivious. Police captain? Excruciatingly dumb. His sister? Borderline learning-impaired. Even the one cop that is suspicious of him ISN'T suspicious for good reasons, rather he just hates him because Dexter won't rubberstamp his lazy deductions.
I hate plots that have idiot balls... and this one has an entire high school gym full of big rubber idiot balls on Dodgeball day.

Dexter had a few good seasons but then, yeah, the unbearable stupidity of everyone in the show just gets worse and worse until it ended with more stupidity than you could possibly imagine. Can't believe they are still mining that concept for new shows.
Dexter is one of the shows I used to love to read about on Television Without Pity, but I tried to watch it on it's own once, and I hated it. I hated the way it was filmed, I hated the pacing... but it made for some entertaining recaps. I miss TWoP so much. There were a bunch of shows that were so much better as snarky recaps.
Watching The Residence. A clever who-dunnit with the backdrop of The Whitehouse. The detective in this one isn't my favorite detective ever, but she has a unique brand of quirkiness that works for the show. We're only about three episodes in and I am quite enjoying the twists and turns of the mystery so far. I question where they can go with this series after a single season as the location would be dumb to use twice, and I'm not sure the detective will continue to retain her fun edginess beyond this initial 8 episodes. But for now I am enjoying it.
Dexter gets better after season 1 and then a whole lot worse after whichever season John Lithgow is in. But it's a pretty decent romp up until then, with him as the high point.
Does anyone expect the forthcoming Saturday Night Live UK to be anything other than an unmitigated disaster?
I am definitely interested. I also like the current cast of the show. Jost and Che are a great combo on Update. Whoever the guy is that plays Trump is so damn good.

I liked Mythic Quest. I only just discovered it in recent months and plowed through all four seasons in a short time.
Then again, any show that lasts even 4 seasons in these streaming days is a miracle.

I think I'm giving up on Andor. It's just boring for me. I have no idea who anyone is, what they're talking about half the time, or why I should care. Half the time, I'm asking myself who someone is or if I'd seen them in the first season.
I watched the first season as it came out and just didn't see this brilliant show everyone else saw. And with the second season, it's even worse. Either I don't understand what's going on or I just don't care. I watched Episode 4 tonight and I have no fucking idea what happened in the episode.
I feel like I'm watching it less out of excitement or interest, but obligation to keep up on all things Star Wars. I struggle to care at all.

Wife and I are doing a rewatch of the first season and I remember not getting into it until several episodes in I didn't understand what the character's deals were. But with the rewatch I think it's amazing from the start. Doesn't drown you in exposition just drops you into a filled out world and let's you figure it out on your own. Also the storytelling is very well done. Like it starts off with a guy looking for his sister and that sets off a series of dominos that leads to a revolt on a completely different planet. And it never seems contrived or silly. Just one domino after another falling due to the actions of the characters.
Not going to defend season 2 since I haven't gotten to it yet. Nor would I give you grief over bowing out just wanted to give my perspective.
While I liked Andor s1 (and haven't started watching s2 yet so can't comment), companies are absolutely milking people's FOMO to the absolute limit. Whether it's Star Wars or the MCU, they keep playing on the "gotta watch it all" feeling. Producing a ridiculous amount of content that's "all connected" will backfire as people either burn out or realize some parts aren't made "for them" but armed at a different demographic.
It's OK not to watch/read/follow everything. I'm sure you'll be able to follow or, at worst, find a "recap of X to be het al the info you need for Y" video on line.

The downside to this is that once an audience member misses something, they feel like they can just give up on the whole thing now. I stopped watching Moon Knight halfway through the series, and now I've practically watched no MCU content subsequent to that. I think I've only seen Quantumania, GotG3, and DP&W.
I haven't watched Ms. Marvel so I don't feel the urge to watch The Marvels. What if I don't get it because I didn't watch Ms. Marvel? I haven't watched Secret Invasion, so any future movies related to Skrulls is probably out. I haven't watched Agatha All Along so I'm no longer interested in any future movies related to witches. And, really, with me missing so much content, do I really want to watch Avengers: Doomsday when it comes out?
Andor is definitely a slow burn, and season 2 is even worse with it having to push through such a big time jump. Starting with episode 7 it really ramps up though, and by episode 9 it makes it all worth it.
I know it’s not for everyone, and that’s ok. I am just really enjoying a Star Wars story that isn’t about an all powerful space wizard that comes in and saves the day. It’s not happy, and it can be ugly, but that’s what makes it great.

While watching the latest episode of The Last of Us, something bothered me. It wasn’t anything about lore or continuity. It’s the fact that they’re browsing through a record store. Hipsters didn’t revive vinyl until the early 2010s. If the apocalypse had hit in 2003, most music shops would have sold CDs and maybe the final runs of cassette tapes.
They're in Seattle, if there's any place in 2003 to still have vinyl shops it would be Seattle.
