It took a lot of scientific ingenuity to build a disintegration ray that would make a car vanish in a blinding light. I guess you could say Claw blinded him with science.
I want to think it wasn't disintegrated, but actually just teleported to Alaska to await their arrival, and that this whole meeting thing was just done for shock and awe value.
