Hey Halforum what are you listening to?

Limit: 500

Steven Soderburgin

Right at this moment. What is playing? It could be music, television, your washing machine, whatever. I hope it's not a movie because then you should quit reading the internet at watch your movie. But even if it is, go ahead and post about it!

I'm listening to Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue," one of the best albums ever made.

Three EP's is my favorite album of all time. I only discovered it, quite by accident, a few years ago, and it blew my mind.

Right now, Vivaldi's Four Seasons is playing. I guess with the current economy, I'm just feeling baroque.

My bands album, over and over and over and over and over and over.
I'm not trying to say it's because it's great, quite the opposite in fact. Since I am doing the mixing I have to keep listening to it, keep making checklists of what needs to be changed and then make those changes in the mix or re-record if it needs it that badly.
It's much more "tedious" and a lot less "rock and roll".
But if I wasn't going to be listening to this right now? Probably the Dark Knight or Sunshine soundtracks that are dominating my music playlist lately.

Very cool! I know a lot of people got tired of hearing Nirvana and consider them overhyped, but I still dig 'em. Until Smells Like Teen Spirit, I was still listening to the pop music my parents were listening to. It opened up a whole new world of music.

Course of Empire- The Information (damn awesome song I heard on the Dark City soundtrack, highly recommend.)
Next up? The Beta Band- Going Round the Bend (computer really likes Beta Band tonight!)

Lol, um, yeah, I love that movie. Gene Wilder is genius and some of the songs are really sweet. Besides, nothing gets people to give me strange looks like when a song from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory plays sandwiched between Pantera and Fear Factory.

No, but he's totally rocking out to it, feeling very enlightened, making serious faces at nothing and musing and whatnot. He himself seems nice, just moved by something that I don't think is moving. And literally, I think it's the guy who wrote the song "I just want you to know who I am"

Let me get this out of the way: I'm listening to the song Hayloft by Mother Mother.

Now, the real reason why I posted is I recently heard a great song on the radio but I have no idea who the artist is, and the radio station they play it on rarely, if ever, announces song titles and artist names. I'm hoping someone here may have an answer for me. The song is in the style of Modest Mouse, i.e. it vaguely resembles whatever it is they do from song to song. The song begins with what I can only describe as a strong rolling organ riff which is played several times throughout the song. The chorus, the only other part I can remember, is an anthem with several voices; not harmonizing, just yelling together as though in protest. In addition there is no instrumentation in the chorus just a steady clapping. The lyrics might be something to the effect of:

And I, respect the dead man's chest
And I (something) till nothing's left

Ad infinitum

Morphine- All Wrong.
I love this band for many reasons, though one of them involves a friend of mine who died about 6 years ago (wow, that long now). He's probably the smartest guy I've ever known. Since we were both very passionate about the music we listened to, we used to argue about music all the time. I remember when we agreed on a musical choice, he told me that since it was such a rare occurrence, it was written into stone fact that the band was either good or bad when we agreed. Anyways, he handed me a Morphine CD and asked me to listen to it. I dug it instantly.

I miss that guy.
