So, if I'm reading this right, 20 bucks will buy you 25 hours on a virtualized desktop of a machine with a GTX 1060 (or 15 hours on a 1080), and the only requirement is Windows or Mac, and a 25 megabit internet connection. Play current games on your old Pentium!

I really don't see how this is going to function without excruciating input lag... buuuut, I might drop a 20 just to see how it works on my laptop for giggles.

#Metal, indeed.

Stuff like this (essentially "thin client" gaming) has been teased for a long time, but yeah, it sounds like it would be the same as gaming via satellite, with massive lag, unless someone manages to find a way to bring infiniband networking to the average consumer household.

For half that I'll let you come to my house and play on my 1080. But you have to buy passage to Florida on your own, and I hold no liability for what happens to you while in Florida.

Sooooo...... a $10 discount, but crocodiles and humidity? No thanks.

It'd be useful (assuming it works as advertised) to me for things like trips to visit relatives where I'd like to show off this or that game but my 10-year-old laptop isn't up to the challenge.

Of course, it might work well at my Dad's house, but my Grandpa who steadfastly refuses to get any kind of TV or Internet access package (he uses rabbit ears for TV. RABBIT EARS), maybe not so much.

As someone who lives in an area where fast internet simply DOESN'T EXIST this service doesn't excite me at all.

If I'm going to Florida, I'm gonna spend Spring Break on the beach realizing I'm fucking old, not in your basement being nerdy.

Yeah, I don't wanna drop 2 grand on a laptop whose muscle I'll only need one week every two years or so.

There's no such thing as basements in Florida. We're below sea level.

As someone with a strong willingness to spend frivolously as well as a spotty Internet connection, I'll stick with my own GTX1070 thanks.

I'd be surprised if a laptop that old could decode the video stream.

It works pretty well using Steam in-home streaming. I've used it to play everything my desktop can play.

I've been there. Fortunately I have moved back to civilization and Gigabit gets hooked up next week.

Seriously, I did feel your pain. 7Mbps down for 2.5 years.

Incidentally I put myself in the beta for GeForce Now and have heard zilch about it since :(

It's always fascinating to me just how many takes visual media takes to get "perfect" or nearly so. And then it reinforces whenever I see live performances (theatre especially) just how many times they've practiced to get it that good in-person.
