Does anyone know how to go about finding a good therapist?

Pretty much what the title says, I am wanting to find a good gender therapist (preferably one with experience in trans) and I am not sure how to find one in my area that is both good and my insurance will accept. Any help would be appreciated.

Those are places to start your search online if you prefer. However, looking at profiles online or getting a recommendation from a LGBTQ organization aren't guarantees to finding a therapist who will fit with what you need. There are many types of therapy and each are different. Going to the first appointment will give you a better idea if entering into a professional relationship with the therapist is going to be beneficial because you will both talk about what issues you are concerned with and how he or she can help you resolve them or move on to a better place in life.

Also, if possible, talk to more than one. Most therapists offer the first session for free, and you need someone that you personally click with, not one that other people have clicked with. It's sort of like dating in that way.

A lot of people don't necessarily realize this, and can get really disillusioned if they don't find the right person immediately.

Good luck and good vibes!

Where you live is important. Inside the USA the WPATH organization is a good place to start, from an insurance point of view, as they require rigorous standards for medical billing:

A more shotgun approach is

Choose a state, or a city from the text menu below the useless graphic and search field, go to the SEXUALITY part under Issues, Click More, then Transgender Identity.
