How much did Jimmy the Greek affect the public image of gambling in the United States?

You know, I think this is a very interesting question, mainly because of the love/hate relationship the NFL has with gambling. They attempt to pretend that it doesn't exist and they publicly frown on it, yet they run fantasy football league sites, give betting lines & even give FF stats. Jimmy the Greek was one of the first that they let get away with this and I would say that he's really the first commentator who really brought the prognostication into the limelight. In my opinion, I thing JtG was HUGE for public acceptance of betting on the NFL and indeed helped the NFL to grow into the powerhouse it is today.
