huzzah! Phil: getting other people to do his work since 1986.

Also, re: tracing porn. Holy shit! Somone drew THAT and denies tracing porn? What about at least watching porn while he drew it?

I'll bet his right hand held the pencil while his left got busy in his boxers.

I've seen all of those before, but at least for the middle one I don't care so much, unless he copied someone else's work. I think it's cool to stage photos yourself and turn them into drawings. Ex Machina isn't any less awesome a comic because Tony Harris likes to do that.

It's Land's insistence on tracing glamour/nudes/porn shots as if they're all interchangeable and acceptable as visual storytelling, and then claiming that he doesn't do that, or when he practically copies someone else's work almost line for line.

Man, the recycling to me is even worse than the tracing. Especially if it's Sandra Bullock, lol.

Hughes is a really, really old hand at the pinup super hero cover art. His Star Wars stuff is really amazing too. No one is comicdom has ever accused him of the same things Greg Land or Brian Hitch get hell for.

Yeah, he even does convention sketches that are amazing right on hand.

I think it's unfair to lump Bryan Hitch and Greg Land together like that. Hitch uses models for inspiration (and openly admits it), but looking at his work on JLA and the Authority and FF4, etc, and saying that all he did is trace porn models is ridiculous when you also look at his his backgrounds, sense of scale, and even just his action. Hitch's worst flaw is that he's late all the goshdarn time.

Greg Land, on the other hand, completely denies tracing porn models while doing pages and pages of stuff like this:

[/QUOTE]

I was only lumping them together because I've read people giving Hitch hell a shit ton. I have no issues with his work.

You know something weird? I discovered the whole porn-face thing not through reading comics, but by searching to see if anyone had done it. It seemed like a good idea at the time. I mean, the outfits worked, and the faces were really expressive.... though now that I see it in action, it just looks like porn.
