What are you playing?

When I manage to correctly guess where the sappers will break through the wall, and manage to build a sandbagged machine gun nest before the wall falls, vs when the sapper throws a grenade into the nest and all my defenders can't climb out over the sandbags quickly enough before it explodes /facepalm

Rest in Peace, SirBash the Luddite. You were quite a mensch.

I know I've been busting my stress circuits over work the past few months, but I don't think it hit until I got my Vita back from my wife, decided to play Persona 4 Dancing All Night for the first time in two months, and realize my brain was too worn to keep up with the notes even on Normal difficulty.

I should play Dark Souls or Bloodborne tonight and see how hilariously bad that goes. Or maybe Monster Hunter.

Prototype

I really liked Infamous, and I remember there was this sort-of rivalry between fans of the two. Why? Infamous is vastly superior to this game. Better story, better gameplay, better voice acting, more interesting characters. This one is still fun, but it's so disjointed.

Infamous doesn't let you play as John Carpenter's The Thing.

Though, I agree with you. Infamous is a better structured game, but I personally liked prototype better, possibly because I really loved Hulk Ultimate Destruction and they are practically the same game

Rimworld:

Boomalope, as with any social herbivore, like to clump up together to sleep. So what happens when they're all asleep and one suffers a fatal heart attack?

This.

So... was your sex slave already a redhead when she got there?

TailorSwift :/
Yeah, guess what she does all day erry day?

It's better than the name she started with. I rescued a 16 year old out of a crashed pod who had no skill higher than 4, and named her Dumbteen. Saw she had a double-passion for crafting, and I had a glut of cloth, so I gave her a purpose.

Also, you should have seen some of the other names I've given people that weren't "halforums" names. Lady who likes cooking, tailoring, and medical? "Camp Mom." Guy who likes Artistic, Intelligent, and Social but is incapable of violence? "Wimpy." And so on and so forth.

Hah.
Lies and you know it.

No, it's probably just Ghostery protecting me from crap image formats.

If you're on firefox, DarkAudit figured it out over in the tech thread. Firefox doesn't like webp but chrome does, because Firefox is getting more retarded by the day.

And a buncha others, too.
My XP machine has Firefox on it, but that's because Firefox for XP is probably the most modern browser you're going to get on that platform.

And for machines with a 3 gig ram limit, you want the lesser of the two RAM-hogs. If only slightly thus. It's not as stark a contrast as it used to be.

You're using Firefox, yes? They still don't support webp.
Wait, wut? Things are showing up fine for me on Firefox.

And I use Pale Moon on my 8 year old netbook (running Win 10 now, started with XP) because it used to have a build optimized for Atom processors. It doesn't anymore, but it still plays back YouTube videos without horrific stuttering, like Firefox and Chrome do.

It is fun to play, no doubt. But one of the big problems (aside from bad voice acting and story structure) is that I have no connection to the city and no reason to care about who I hurt or kill. Infamous grounded you. Even if you chose the evil path, the people still felt like people, and not graphics temporarily flitting across the screen.

I will admit, the random civvies didn't feel like actual people. But that's ok, I need to be in overdrive health 24/7 and Human McNuggets so tasty.

Though I guess the argument could be made that that was the point. It emphasizes Alex's disconnection from the world.

Or rather, it emphasizes/foreshadows that

Alex Mercer actually died in the first scene of the game, and you've been playing as the Blacklight Virus all along, which mistakenly believes itself to be Mercer because his were its first memories, and thus he is disconnected from people because he's not a person himself.

The good old Swamp Thing effect.

Rimworld: how to evict useless colonists

Step 1: Prepare a rudimentary prisoner cell on the outskirts of town
Step 2: Set the door to "hold open"
Step 3: On your evictee's health tab, "administer beer" until he passes out
Step 4: Once unconscious, Have another colonist "arrest" him. Since he is unconscious, he cannot resist arrest and cause injury to anyone or himself.
Step 5: Arresting colonist will put him in the cell outside and leave the door open.
Step 6: Arrested colonist regains consciousness, sees open door, thinks about it for a bit, then escapes! Runs to the edge of the map and disappears!

You now no longer have to put up with a dead weight colonist who refuses to do "dumb labor" etc and don't have to suffer any penalties for killing off colonists.
