[Movies] The DC Cinematic Universe - The David Zazlav Dumpster Fire.

I mean, there are things in that trailer making me curious, at least. Finally getting to see at least a little Wonder Woman in action, and apparently Bruce Wayne having given up being Batman until all this. Also, Jeremy Irons as Jim Gordon? I hadn't heard about that.

I really only have one problem with this movie: it's showing the end game at the beginning. Supes Vs The Bat is supposed to be the climatic showdown between two opposing viewpoints in the war for the heart of men: Unending Hope vs Tireless Vigilance. But you can't have that AT THE START OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP. It needs to build over time... you need those moments where Bruce's cynicism almost ruins the lives of the people he's supposed to be watching over and you need those times where Clark's idealism almost gets people killed. If you don't have them, then why the hell does the fight matter? Why do we care that the Hero and the God are duking it out?

The movie just doesn't work. It should have been the finale of the first acting, leading to a Justice League movie to end DC Phase 1, not the opening salvo.

You're assuming they're taking it as slow as DCU. Who says the third movie won't be Justice League, straight away? Building a complete universe with a dozen movies like DC may seem like a losing move, since they'll always be a few years behind the curve. Not suggesting this is so, but going faster in the build up would allow them to get to "bigger" things sooner - hopefully for them before hero fatigue gets too strong.

Looks interesting in places, but man does it look so bleak. Everything is dark and so... monochrome. I'd like to say it interested me, but it doesn't. I have to agree with Bowie, I'm more excited to see Ant Man.

I think it looks cool. I don't know why they're doubling down on the whole "symbol for hope" thing though.
My impression from Ma Kent was basically "Ether be the god they want or don't bother trying. You don't owe it to them, only yourself." So this movie might be about Clark having to live up to that symbol instead of just hiding behind it.

There's a moment there where a batman in a coat with goggles is being taken down by some kind of superman-police. Kind of had a Red Son vibe to me. I wonder if the multiverse will come into play. It would make sense if they're planning to build up to some Crisis (TM) but honestly I hope they keep that stuff out.

It's symbolism! He symbolises something! Don't you see it ?

*hits you over the head with the symbolism* See it now?!
*rubs your face in it* SEE IT NOW?
*drowns you in it* HOW ABOUT NOW, DO YOU SEE THE SYMBOLISM NOW?!

This concludes the inside look into the creative process of Zack Snyder.[DOUBLEPOST=1436645932,1436645711][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, I attempted to voice my opinion in the comments of the YouTube video. It went as well as you'd expect. Instead of getting drowned in "LOL were never a DC fan!" or "This movie was perfect, fa*****!" I decided to just delete the comment altogether.

Eh. Obviously the symbolism in this, and most Snyder movies, is pretty heavy handed. On the other hand,it's not like Superman symbolism was ever really any sort of subtle.

Probably won't see it in cinemas, but then again, I haven't seen Avengers 2 yet, either, or Inside Out, or Mad Max, so....I guess I'm not really the guy they're going for anyway :p

Is it me or is Zack Snyder just fucking with us now? Batman threatening to kill someone? Superman willingly trying to turn Batman into roasted hamburger? What the hell is going on.

e: Yeah, what he said.[DOUBLEPOST=1436656601,1436656167][/DOUBLEPOST]
What am I looking at?

Also, I thought the graffiti'd suit was of Jason Todd.
Yeah I don't know that the grave/suit are connected in that they belong to the same person, maybe the grave belongs to Dick's dad or something.

I agree with what you said, but I want to add that this is part of my problem with the set up of BVS: Clark hasn't been set up to be the Unending Hope. In Man of Steel he was more reluctant hero than symbol of hope for humanity. There's barely any contrast between the two at this point (besides the various shades of brown and grey).

I wanted to be so excited to see my first glimpse of Wonder Woman, but it's like the rest of the trailer sucked the joy out of the room. That and I wished they hadn't relied so heavily on the CG because there's a lot in there that looks so fake it's distracting. *coughcapecough*
