Minor victory thread

The only real problem with doing this is that somehow your neighbors find out you know how to do these things. And then they want you to do them for them, too.
And the amount of space and time you need :p I used to be able to do quite a bit, but when all of your tools and supplies have to fit in one 2ft x 2ft x 2ft box, you really can't keep enough to do a lot of stuff :p

It's not going to be epic until I've safely unloaded my belongings in the hotel room *touch wood*. But...

The original plan would have me trying to fit everything into Wednesday, my last full day of three. Now, Wednesday is the first full day of three, and nearly everything I wanted to do will be open the entire stay. The original hotel was a mile from the nearest light rail. The new one is a couple blocks from the subway, and one stop from Citi Field and Flushing Meadows - Corona Park (Unishphere, Queens Museum, and those flying saucer things from MiB.)

The dream trip I envisioned two years ago, before I went to MI instead, was to take the train to NYC and back. In just a few minutes, we're headed to the station. Pity the car had to be sacrificed to do it, but the new itinerary is so much better than the original plan I started out on Sunday morning.

But again, after all that's happened, I won't believe it's going down until that train pulls out at 7:30 this morning. I'll really believe it once we've pulled out of Harrisburg, where Sunday's journey came to a crashing (figurative) end.

Ok, but I'm off. See you in a while. :D

I'll be getting my scores and detailed feedback later this week. I'm both looking forward to and scared of the email. I have another trip up north this fall and will use their feedback to try and take better pictures and see if I can place again next year :)

Me and the girlfriend totally passed by @HCGLNS and the missus on our way inside a local restaurant this afternoon. Didn't wanna bother them since they were talking to other people, so gave Higgins a friendly smack on the arm to say hello. I call that a minor victory. :)

Not me :) I was in the office all day - I would so rather have been out somewhere fun! I have black hair now too due to a home hair dye disaster.[DOUBLEPOST=1434602891,1434602802][/DOUBLEPOST]I googled! Ribeye tacos!

Today on HalforumNews - ThatNickGuy mistakes stranger for forum member, HCGLNS. Friendly greeting is mistaken for assault and a fight ensues. During the scuffle, ThatNickGuy's mask is torn, revealing him to be Londor, Lord of the LizardPeople. The Canadian eastern provinces are in chaos as citizens scramble to appease their new lord and master with offerings of Tim Horton's coffee and poutine. Stay tuned to this station for further updates.

Or that WAS HCGLNS, and this is how Squidleybits found out about his mistress.

...But why would JCM launch a doom weasel strike in the West at the same time he's consolidating his control over the East as Londor?

Nope not us. I was at a secured military base all day, then canoeing with Scouts all evening. So sounds like you are touching strangers...

Whoops! Then I met your very confused doppleganger.
I've had this happen to me a couple times. Usually at the renaissance festival. Somebody will spot me from 30 yards away, point, light up, yell "HEYYY!!!" come over, shake hands, hug, "HOW YOU BEEN MAN, GREAT TO SEE YOU AGAIN" and I have no idea who in the flying nuclear christmas they are.

You should roll with it.
Actually, I usually do. I play right along, enthusiastically respond, do the whole "HEY HOW YA BEEN WOW LOOK AT YOU" etc bit, then when we walk away, and who I'm with asks "Who was that?" I get to respond "No idea" in my deadpan voice.

Next time you should make fictional back stories for them.

"Oh, that was Jimmy. He used to be part of a traveling freak show before the operation."

Hugh really does have a dude that looks just like him in Fall River. He even drives a similar car. I've actually texted him and chewed him out for not waving.

I remember an Unsolved Mysteries story exactly like this. It turned out the guy had an identical twin he never knew about because he was adopted.
