The ISCI code on the latest Suddenlink commercial being "TRANSWOMAN1." The content of the commercial did not match my first guess. Or my second. Or even my third.

It didn't seem to have anything to do with any trans-anything at all.

I am a cretin.

Remembrance Day service over... doff the black and the red poppy and BRING ON THE CHRISTMAS CAROLS!

I already have one of the special advent services organized and written up (a joint service with the Catholics), and two others well on their way (both with other churches, so I'm waiting on other peeps to get their shit together), and the general layout for the standard Sunday's done! Woo hoo! Bring on the flu season glut of visits to the hospital and funeral home! I may have to get a cloak (yes, clerical cloaks are a thing, they're glorious and expensive, and something out of the medieval period... it'll depend on how may 'bonuses' I get from said funerals I think, folks out here don't tip their clergy like the rest of the country) this year for internments at the cemetary - it gets bloody windy up there on the hill, and my bright red wool knee-length trench coat just doesn't seem appropriate.

[and if I hear a choir take a breath between 'Emmanuel' and 'and ransom' in the first line of 'o come, o come emmanuel' I may throw things... but there's still 4 weeks to the carol service with 8 or so (amature) choirs, so no need to get hot under the collar about that yet I suppose.]

School is making me stupid. I can't wait to read a book that's not about action research or elementary education. I feel like I don't know anything about anything else anymore.

Dear Web Designers:

What is with the GIANT FONT trend lately? Did the public go collectively farsighted when I wasn't looking?

I feel like 99% of the job for the IT guy at my work is to come restart someone's computer. And I've taken over that in my department, having people soft or hard reset before they travel across the office to get him. Seems to be working.

Yes. When I open a new tab it gives me ads mixed in with my recently opened/most viewed pages.[DOUBLEPOST=1415991147,1415991039][/DOUBLEPOST]
I've found that firefox is not leading the way - it's lagging and buggy. There are people who would rather support older versions of IE than newer versions of firefox.
That's so funny. I just switched back to Firefox because I have so many problems with Chrome being laggy and buggy. I even put FF on my phone because Chrome is being such a pain.

Yeah, I switched to Chrome at home, but here at work where I need my browser to have smaller RAM useage, I've still been going on firefox. That may have to change, at this rate. Maybe it's finally time for me to upgrade this thing. It's a dual core celeron E1200 still running XP... everybody else is on core2duos or better (mostly i3s actually), but I've resisted upgrading because I have this thing set up EXACTLY HOW I NEED IT to get all the tasks I want done, done, in the most convenient manner possible.

I think I actually like spending time with my in-laws more than my own parents when they visit us. Is that terrible?
Eh, it is what it is. We can't choose our families. We sort-of choose our in-laws when we marry someone; I've known people whose prospective in-laws changes their minds about marriage. It's great if you get along with them. It's good to have people you love and identify, regardless of whether or not you're related by blood. I guess it can feel sad that you don't get along as well with your own family. It can be a comfort, though--a second chance, depending on your circumstances. A good friend of mine had kind of a shit family growing up, and her current circle of friends is now like her family. They do Thanksgiving and Christmas together; their kids are like siblings. It's beautiful, because nothing beyond their control "brought" them together. It's a love and a connection they chose to keep.

I think Jake could relate to this. He doesn't prefer my family over his. I think he prefers solitude over most company. But he doesn't have a lot in common with his family, and therefore he doesn't feel the need to see them or talk to them much.

Anyway, that's a lot of talking for the answer "not really."

I really can relate to that particularly since moving to Hawaii. I have made some friends here that are more like what family should be (in my mind), including my current neighbors.

Apparently the three hardest (but not impossible) things to do with your own body are:

1) Count your hair

2) Wash your eyes with soap

3) Breathe with your tongue pushed out to its full extent.

Gotcha.

Put your tongue back in your mouth, dingleberry.
