The urge to drift to the center a little when I'm driving down Westheimer is overwhelming... There are so many sign spinners on that little foot wide median.

The funny thing is that sign spinners are a way to get around laws against commercial signage. The city/county may have ordnances against off building signage without a permit, and deny permits for obviously flashy or annoying signs.

However, as long as one doesn't violate loitering laws, one can be in a public place, and if they happen to be carrying a sign, the laws and ordinances can't touch them. If they are paid to do so, again no big deal, lobbying groups do the same thing occasionally.

However, if they move back to mechanized sign spinners, they are no longer humans using their freedom of speech, they are again signs, so must fall afoul of local ordinances and regulations.

DER ROBOTS CAN'T TERK YER JERBS!
I kind of figured that's why they had the sign spinners in the first place, but I still wonder about their value.

Yes, why would you, when there are still so many other, better, interpretations to be had?

(Original (and higher-quality) video by original creator is here, but YouTube stripped the music. Pity.)

I have decided to henceforth never nag about duplicate posting (unless it is being done maliciously). Partially because it doesn't seem to work, and partially also because I realize it just makes me sound like a tattle-tale.

At last! A cure for Hipsterism!

*snrk* I resemble that remark. But it's still hilarious.

Everyone needs to go watch this now.

The Reward

It's a short animated film that still manages to tell an epic fantasy tale and it's so much fun. Really amazing with some nice humor that's balanced by action and character moments. I highly recommend it.

Something went real bad wrong on the Korean version of Top Gear when they tried to race a Corvette against a Cobra helicopter. Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured, they say.

the same story, its not the destination, its the journey. For example, all I could dream about when I was a kid was becoming a scientist, and I kept waiting for the day I would be smart and wise. The day never came, I looked in the mirror one morning and realized I had become the dream and never even seen it coming. My friends now admire my intelligence and diligence in reaching my goals. My best friend from high school said it best, "Bones while the rest of us were busy screwing our girlfriends and getting drunk at college you were busy studying and working towards your degree, while the rest of us washed out you kept climbing ever closer to the present. Now you are a scientist and I manage a pizza parlor." Now I actually think its awesome he has made manager, I think its super that he is making progress in bettering his situation too.

I was listening to Thunderhorse from Metalocalypse while watching that. Made it WAY COOLER.
