Really funny. Wish I hadn't seen any trailers though. They didn't ruin the movie or anything, but a lot of things would have been much funnier if I didn't know they were coming. Better than The Hangover.

Interesting about Due Date there... Due to what I had read about it I had written it off as an inferior trains, planes and automobiles. Maybe I'll check it out.

Watched Predators last night. Not as good as Predator but not half bad. It LOOKED beautiful, thats for sure, whoever the cinematographer was on that should get a raise.

yeah and i don't get how it gets a 7.0 rating on tomatoes. 70% of people must like to be bored to death and pretend it's art of something. Literally NOTHING HAPPENS

From now on if I'm on the fence about seeing a movie I'm probably just going to wait until charlie sees it and defer to his judgement. We seem to have nigh identical taste in movies.

Superman/Shazam: Return of Black Adam. Man, I wish all these DC DVD movies had the animation this does (probably didn't hurt that it was only 20 minutes long) but what a ripoff for 45 minutes of shorts. I dig them all, but there's too little content here for a full priced DVD.

Personally I enjoy the DC Animated films more than the Marvel, simply because they tend to be more brutal and uncensored.

Superman/Doomsday and Under the Red Hood had direct murder scenes and violence. They also tend to be more fluid stories. I can't believe how well done Red Hood was in direct connection with the comics it was pulled from.

Well, even without the more mature content, the DC movies have been just plain better in almost every other way. The animation and stories are generally better too.

Phil: You're hating on one of my favorite movies. (Domino) but I pretty much can't disagree your points on why you didn't like it.

Hylian: Depressed maybe, but satisfied with such a phenomenal film.

I saw Easy A and The Town the last afternoon they were both playin'.

Easy A was a really adorable, clever little movie. Lots of awesome supporting adults performances. Emma Stone needs to be a star, she is really great.

The Town was really solid. It did kind of strike me as not really anything I hadn't seen before. But all the performances were really good, and Affleck proved to be a super solid director. I thought there were a couple limp subplots that could have been completely dropped without really changing the movie much. It was the type of movie where I knew what was coming, but the journey was engaging enough so I didn't care.

Cats & Dogs 2: Revenge of Kitty Galore
So sue me, I like fun, light family flicks. And this one was chalk full of really lame visual puns (which of course, I thought were awesome). Again, not by any means a good movie, but I thought it was fun.

The Last Airbender

Ugh. Just...ugh. All the character development in the series is thrown out the window. Terrible acting, terrible story pacing and a LOT of really bad green screen moments. Pretty decent special effects. Though, unlike the cartoon, the organic nature of the "bending" with the martial arts was...not very organic in this. There were times that we'd see, say, Kitara doing some kind of katas, and yet nothing was happening around her. Oh, and the names. Ugh. Aang (which normally rhymes with "tang") was pronounced "Awng" (like..."Kong"?).

Basically, this about sums up my feeling of The Last Airbender:

Remember the episode Ember Island Players? The one where Aang & Co. go to see that play that's based on their past adventures and how the Fire Nation author basically made Aang a girly, giggly buffoon, Katara a weepy fat girl, Sokka a dumb buffoon and so on? The last scene of that episode, with the team leaving the theater all depressed and sad and blue about the play is how I felt when I came out from the theater after The Last Airbender. Truth be told, I actually fell asleep at one point during the movie because it was just so goddamn awful and boring.

My biggest character gripe is, however, what they did with Fire Lord Ozai. Compare, if you will:


Terrifying. Charismatic. Commanding. Horrifying. Can and will kill you as easily as he would kill a fly. Not above contemplating the destruction of the world.

Why not have M. Night himself step into that role as his fucking cameo? Would have been just as intimidating.

Sad, isn't it? It would have been more sad if I had found a picture of their Ozai in his final scene, wearing a long, red-and-gold Chinese robe. Then he looked like Raj Koothrappali's dumpy sales clerk of a brother in drag. I wish I did drink, but I fear not even copious amounts of alcohol can wipe away that terrible image from my mind.

I saw Due Date last night. It wasn't as funny as The Hangover, but hilarious nevertheless. And I wanted to strangle Galifianakis' character within the first ten minutes.

Don't get me wrong, I still thought he was funny as hell. But I couldn't blame Robert Downey Jr.'s character for punching him in the face.

Alan from The Hangover was clumsy, awkward, and far too stupid to insult. But he still meant well and you couldn't help but like him. Ethan from Due Date, on the the other hand, was completely unlikable.

Just finished watching My Neighbor Totoro and while it did drag a bit long in parts I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It is a nice calming movie that that puts you into a happy/relaxed state upon watching.

You and me both, lady. The only work of his I didn't like was Signs, Airbender and Happening.[/QUOTE]You forgot The village. Too many spoilers in the middle of the movie that destroyed the impact of the twist ending.

Lady in the water was made to be a cute fairy tale, and it pretty much succeeded in that, and is my daughter's fave live-action movie.

Before I forget, was his latest, "the Devil", any good? I loved the idea of people trapped in an elevator, knowing one of them is the devil himself, but then The Happening did seem good on paper.

I saw I Love You, Phillip Morris last night. I'd give it two and a half stars. It had its funny moments but was mediocre otherwise.
