[Rant] Minor Rant III: For a Few Hollers More

Ugh, teenage boys suck.
I have two teenage boys and a teenage girl. Recently my wife and I found a lot of her clothes (bras, lengerie, skirts, blouses, etc) butt plugs, and a dildo that we've been missing as well as lube on top a cabinet in the bathroom (it almost reaches the ceiling so you can't see on top of it). All of them deny it was them. The girl I believe, but I dunno about the boys. But anyway *someone* took them out of the bedroom and put them up there. So.. At least you don't have that to deal with. We told them we weren't mad, we understand experimenting, etc but all denials

But like... using your parent's sex toys?! Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Shhh! Don’t give the Internet ideas for a new porn hub category.

According to my wife, when someone wrote Dan Savage asking what to do about this situation, his reply was something like. “Go get a $150 dollar gift certificate to Amazon or something. Hand it to your son/daughter, look him/her right in the eye and say, ‘I don’t care what you spend this on, and you don’t have to tell me, but there are some things that should belong to ONLY YOU.’”

She also adds that the website “scarlet teen” is a great website for teens who are awakening, and has great resources for use, cleaning, and just why you should not share your toys.

Since the start of the pandemic, I had been careful with washing hands, distancing myself, avoiding crowds, and masking up. I got fully vaccinated in March of this year. I hadn't had so much a sniffle since January 2020.

Then I came down with breakthrough Covid over the weekend. It was three unpleasant days of coughing and what felt like a bad head cold. I am recovering quickly but have also been cloistered in a 10x12 room since Sunday.

Coughing. Stuffed up. Runny nose. pressure behind eyes. Fever. Bleh.

Still have senses of smell, and taste, so I've got that going for me, which is nice. Been vaccinated.

Called off tonight for the first time in ever. I really can't afford it, but it's better for all involved that I have an extra night's rest.

99.9 then. 100.1 when I woke up about an hour ago. Sigh.

Still mainly drip, headache, and sinus pain/pressure with an occasional cough. So hoping it's just a cold. Sister is pushing for me to get tested in the morning.

Not feeling great, but after food and a couple of aspirin, I'm feeling better than when I woke up.

And now's a good time for another nap.

I'm pretty much 100% recovered. Just a bit of post-nasal drip and some coughing in the morning, but otherwise I'm fine.

I got tested yesterday and they say I'm still positive, but that's quite common at the 10-day mark. In the meantime my university has cleared me to teach on campus again. I still taught online today because I didn't want to walk around campus with a box of tissues.

My box of oatmeal is supposed to have 20 packets in it. I eat 2 every morning. This morning I get to the end of the box and there's only 1 packet left. Nobody eats it but me. So either there were 19 packets and I got screwed or there were 21 and I got an extra. Either way, I now have to either eat 1 which isn't enough or 3 which is too much.

Pour 1.5 bags in one bowl and eat it, and stick 1.5 bags in another bowl and store it for tomorrow.

Okay, okay...what about adding in a serving or two of nuts or another form of protein to make it more filling. Even protein powder.

Come on, Dave. We'll get you through this.

Realize that oatmeal is disgusting, throw it away, then settle down to a good ol' bowl of grits.
I love oatmeal! However I am allergic so at this point I just miss oatmeal (and Cheerios). My wife hates oatmeal and can eat all the oat based foods.

I start my new job on Monday yet I had not heard anything about where to report, when, dress code, etc. I was going to call HR today to find out and then last night at 10:32 pm i get a series of emails with all the information. And since I had just gone to bed, I had to get up again and get on the computer to fill out some paperwork. Otherwise I'd not have been able to sleep. I got to bed about 2 since I was wide awake again.

WHO SENDS OUT PAPERWORK AT 10:32 PM?!?
