What are you playing?

One thing I will mention about Stick of Truth for those playing on the PC, you'll want to use a controller. The keyboard and mouse controls work, but they're kinda clunky.
Going to agree with this completely. Since there's no need for fast mouse accuracy it's just smoother with an Analog stick for movement. Also the battles are -take turn- so even more so.

Should be getting Salvemaker soon, I just unlocked Pirate and am about to start the Performer quest. Right now I'm running

Tiz Pirate/Spellfencer
Agnes White Mage/Summoner
Edena Time Mage/Black Mage
Ringabel Ranger/Thief (probably going to swap this the other way around until I open Ninja)

and haven't had a lot of trouble so far, save for the Red Mage boss.
It's also REALLY worth doing the quest to get the Vampire asterisk. I maxed out the vampire class for all characters because the support abilities are some of the best in the game.

On a whim, I downloaded the latest version of Dwarf Fortress.
Considering the last version I played was 2 versions ago, I'm having intense "I have no idea what I'm doing" moments. My first new fortress ended in disaster when I settled too close to a necromancer tower and got wiped out by undead.

Losing is fun. :D

Now that I have a large successful town in Banished and know any minute they will all die, I decided to go back to an older game to finish it up. Decided on XCom: EU to get ready for the expansion that already came out.

I forgot how fun this game is, but it can be so annoying leveling up soldiers. I am trying to get a "Gifted" crew together, but that requires leveling up dozens of different characters and testing them for the gift, and there is no way to do it outside missions (you would think a mysterious anti-alien task force that I have dumped the equivalent of millions of research dollars into would have a training room) What's worst is every time I recruit soldiers I seem to get nothing but Heavies and Snipers. Arg! I need more Assault darn it!

Oh well at least I am so far along research wise since I last stopped playing that every squaddie I send into missions is decked out in the best kits money can buy.

I love The Stick of Truth. It's the South Park game that should have always existed. It makes up for every shitty one that has been made in the past.

Marathoned and done.

I loved the holy shit out of it.

Some particular highlights that had me guffawing.

One of Stan dad's final jokes. My favorite kid!

Performing an abortion on GlaDOS.

The Kenny final boss fight....even though it was far, far, far easier than fucking Al Gore.

Canada.

The whole God damn game.

I give South Park: The Stick of Truth a 5........out of 5.

I got pants! I got pants!

I had to take someone's advice and go back to the last restore a couple of times to do it when I found the next item, but it was worth it. I got pants!

The best part? The pants set people of fire when I land from a skyline. You know what that means?

I got pants that automatically make me A LIAR!

Oh man, stick of truth... don't read this spoiler if you haven't at least gotten to Canada and don't want anything spoiled

The fight against the underpants gnomes while you're shrunk and UNDERNEATH YOUR PARENTS HAVING SEX was the most hilariously awful scene I've ever seen in a video game. QTE events to dodge your father's balls... wow.

Whelp, that's it for Stick of Truth. I think all I missed were like 4 Chinpokomon and two or three friends. Kind of wish I hadn't done it all in one playthrough so I could replay as another class sooner.

PS: Warrior is OP as fuuuuuuuuuck if you stack armor.

Tomb Raider (reboot)

Really digging this, though the action is infuriating both because the enemies blend far too well with the environment and the shooting controls are crap. Not to mention any enemy that throws those fucking molotovs are annoying as fuck. Any shooting scenes, which are fortunately spaced out, are really frustrating. The exploration and survival aspects, though, are more fun. Well, survival in the sense of story-driven survival, I suppose. It's not like Snake Eater or Don't Starve. Which is a shame because I think the game would've been much more enjoyable if it focused less on generic evil people to shoot and more on the trapped on an island, survival and explore aspect.

Totally agree. It is a really, really good game, but if they had played it even less safe and added in more of the survival stuff it would have been a great game.

Oh and while the fighting is hard due to, well, a lot of reasons, I liked it because until about 3/4's of the way through the game I never felt like a bad-ass. I felt like someone thrust into a world they weren't ready to engage with.

South Park: the Stick of Truth

Alright, it's 8 PM. I'll boot up the game on Steam, play it for a little while to get a taste of what the game is like aaaaaaaaaaaaand it's 1:30 AM.

I am so sad.
I finished it.
It was so perfect.
So amazing.
The fact that it's over is crushing.

Ok so the scenes that just killed me:
Fighting the underpants gnome underneath your parents having sex and matrix dodging your dad's balls.
The entire Lemmiwinks tribute in Mr.Slave's ass.
The two faced backstabbing whore hunt with the girls.
The entire abortion clinic.
and those are just the ones off the top of my head while I recover from the fact that it's over. I managed to find all the Chinpokumon. Everytime I got a metroidvania upgrade, I literally backtracked the ENTIRE town over. I'm glad I didn't miss any of the -missables- either. I collected all dyes, finished all the quests and side quests and all that's left is some misc equipment scattered over the town.
I may just start it up again to play another class because, why not. The thief was pretty powerful with his debuffs, by the end of the game I could stun anyone, bleed them x5 then remove all their armor in 1-2 turns. It was amazing but I'm really curious how the other classes play and I'd even though I know the -choice- path that happens in the game isn't that big of a difference, I would like to see it from the other side.

I wouldn't go warrior, because it sounds pretty much the same. I'm only starting day 2, but already my Rochambeau special attack, if it doesn't finish off my target in 1 hit, will keep it stunned until my buddy finishes it off Plus, with my weapon stickers, every single attack applies bleeding and possibly gross-out.

I'm thinking Wizard or Jew.

Every class is broken as hell, it's kind of the charm.

You can set up the mage so he wipes out entire rows of enemies and gains PP for his trouble.

So how fast are people finishing it? 8 hours? 12?
It's not long and the RPG trappings are really window dressing to what the game is, a 12 hour (if you search out everything) love letter to all things South Park.

It isn't a deep gameplay experience by any means and even set to the hardest difficulty (other than Al Gore without cheesing him) it's still pretty easy.

All that said it's the funniest game ever made and I loved every minute I spent playing it.

Once I can get it cheap, I'll definitely pick it up. I have a general rule about not buying games unless they're around $20 or so. Mind you, I've broken that rule a few times, like for GTA V. Totally worth it.

Warrior starts twoshotting enemies, especially towards the end of the game when you can get the Sweet Katana from Jimbo's shop and start using high-armor equipment. Bull Rush drops half an enemy's armor off every use, which is handy as you progress and some bosses are sporting 1k+ amror. I generally ran with Butters and later on Kyle. Stan kind of sucks. Kyle's last PP ability is nuts if you hit the button combo fast enough.

I might try it again in a month or so as a different class, once I've forgotten some of the funnier moments.

Two shotting? Weakling, my mage one-shots EVERYTHING. Poor Kyle hasn't had a chance to attack yet.
