Whine like a baby, now with 500% more drama!

They are now talking about wind chills this next week down into the -50 range..
Really not looking forward to that on Monday and Tuesday mornings. My car wasn't very happy to start this morning and it was only in the -15 degree range. Even more fun is my wife works 3rd shift, so we'll have to see if hers starts.

So, January 1st raises are out, and my whole engineering team got 10% raises.. YAY, good for them.

Making me the lowest paid member of the team...wtf?

Being a home owner is trash. It seems like every other day I'm replacing something or having to learn how to fix something or having to mow my lawn or shovel my driveway or whatever.

Celsius, Fahrenheit, whatever - you get down to Fifty-Below and it's too cold to do ANYTHING.
Our governor just closed all schools because of it. Unfortunately I doubt I'll be that lucky.

My governor is also my boss. And he doesn't do anything that smart.

And, even if he did, it wouldn't make a difference to me, since I work in a 24/7 facility.

I'll see you all next Thursday, then...

I left work early today, 3pm-ish, to go take my S.O. to the dentist (apparently she's either got a weird lesion or jaw cancer, we'll know next Friday). While waiting for her appointment I get called back to work, since someone messed up my e-timesheet so I need to sign a paper one.

I get there, everything seems fine... And I off-handedly get told that I was fired on the 21th of December. Now, because I'm changing jobs on Monday, I *had* to be "fired", but it was supposed to happen today (the 3rd) with my hiring date being tomorrow (the 4th), specially because I worked yesterday and today. The lady that filed the personnel action request messed up the date.

So now someone in H.R. is (hopefully) staying late to (hopefully) fix up this shit. If the government gets wind of the firing through their e-visa program before it can be rectified, it effectively puts me out of status by 8 days, meaning I have 52 days left to leave the country or alter my status.

I am not a happy camper right now.

-35F with the wind right now. -54F wind chill predicated tonight.

Ice giants are coming over the horizon. Doomweasels, tonight we dine in hell!

I feel like such a wuss. It's 49 degrees here, and I'm freezing. But it feels like 40, you guys.....

I'm from the South, so I know what you're talking about. I may bitch about the cold here but at least I don't have 98F with 100% humidity during the summer.

I can put on more clothes to keep warm in the winter but people tend to freak out a bit when I take my clothes off during the summer.

Yeah, you BETTER not.

It got up into the 20's this morning, but it's slowly starting to drop. It's slated to get down to -20 tonight as a low.[DOUBLEPOST=1388874688,1388874545][/DOUBLEPOST]

Same here. I'm always trying to park between two big ol' SUV's or pickups up here when I get into work, hoping that the windblock will keep my car from getting too cold. But the temps and winds on the hill up here in Irma might not make it matter much.

The only good thing is, I wouldn't likely be alone.

Looking to take a trip to Alabama later this month, so I've been looking at the weather.

Forecast for Mon: 50 and raining.
Forecast for Tue: Plummets to -7.

Yeah, I'll be watching the news to see if anything interesting happens.

Stomachache. For 5 hours. Owww. Can't get comfortable... hurts...
You know, I had something like this once. It lasted about 5 days and had evolved into one of the worst pains of my life. I know what you mean, too. Usually with a pain, you can do something to reduce the level, but you can't with this. No matter how you shift. I couldn't sleep. I finally went to the urgent care, and a 400 year old doctor told me it was a bacterial growth in a bend of my small intestine. He prescribed two drugs from the dawn of time that cost me all of $5 to fill at Walgreens, and it went away almost instantly.

Mine was just too much cheap pizza for lunch. But yours is a much more interesting story.

Lesson learned: Don't be mean to your appendix.

Here's the last couple of time stamps from my tracking information for a package I ordered a while ago. I think UPS is deliberately holding onto it to ensure it doesn't get delivered before their estimated date, just to show me for not paying for faster delivery.

January 3, 2014, 1:04 am, EDMONTON AB CA Arrival Scan
December 31, 2013, 5:28 am, CONCORD ON CA Departure Scan

You think I wouldn't notice it arrived 3 days ago UPS? That I would only look at the newest date? WHICH IS IT UPS? Am I going to have to challenge you to a duel? A DUEL OF FATES!

Hey Disney, you release the second set of DVDs for Gargoyles season 2, what, 4 years later, but now you won't ship it out of the US? So those of us that waited so fucking long for them now have to have it shipped multiple times (which isn't cheap) or have to buy it from gouging Amazon resellers or try to win a bid on Ebay (where it goes for 300% over the price the Disneystore.com sells it for). Oh they're also barebones and in hideous packaging.

Fuck. Off.

I would probably put a bullet in my mother's calf muscle for this legitimately.

I'm tired of people asking me if it's cold enough for me yet!
I don't know if there's any real noticeable difference after it goes past -20. At that point you just can't spend much time outside. You step outside and the air takes your breath away. Your nose hairs freeze up, and if your eyes start to water your eyelids freeze shut. It's amazing what a nice warm beverage does for you when you come in out of it though. It's almost worth it just for that feeling.

I'm tired of people whining about every season.

"Oh God I hate winter! I hate snow and ice and being cold! I can't wait for warmer weather!!"
"Spring is here! Hooray for allergies and having to cut the grass! NOT! At least in the summer my grass will be dead."
"If I sweat any more I wouldn't need to go to the swimming pool! I can't wait for fall! Can someone seal me in a block of ice?"
"Fuck fall. I hate raking! I can't wait until winter so I don't have to deal with all these leaves!"

Get the hell over it. Sheesh.

I admit I am a season-complainer, except for summer. I am very seldom one to find it 'too hot' or 'too humid'. I don't have spring allergies, but it's too wet and not warm enough yet.
