shit man, sorry to hear it, please do eat something, anything. I know I dont say it often, but all of you are so awesome and I dont want to see any of you suffer.

that reminds me, "you know Bones there are plenty of fish in the sea!" me:"except for one thing, I am in the middle of desert and the nearest ocean is 1000 miles in the other direction!"

Two days in a row doing at least an hour at the gym. My goal is to go a full week before taking a day off. I've been going after work which is nice because it's late enough I have the place almost to myself. The problem though is that since I haven't eaten for 8 hours I'm hungry and am going to eat before bed which is bad. Hopefully I can shift some things around and start going in the early morning.

So...

A six-pack of Diet Dr Pepper doesn't last a day at my house. Could be a contributing factor in why my mom is having knee replacement surgery next week, with the other knee and both shoulders not too far behind. Not to mention the gout.

While I have the motivation, and still have full range of motion, I'm looking at alternatives. I already swapped out the Coke Zero I have with lunch at work for tea. Usually unsweetened black tea, but as they were out this time, I went with the sweetened with evaporated cane juice version instead. (That's 120 calories in a 16 ounce bottle. Regular coke is ~187 calories for the same 16 ounces. Sigh.) The snack time diet coke was replaced with diet ginger ale. Not all that great of a switch, huh?

I dropped fully sweetened sodas over 10 years ago. Now's the time to find suitable replacements for the replacements. Like maybe making a big batch of ice tea on my days off, and some simple syrup as a separate sweetener? (Good Eats suggested augmenting the syrup with lemon and mint. ;))

Look up SodaStream. Just splash some fruit juice in there like Cajungal and it'll end up paying for itself with what you save on buying soda.

Day 3 of 7 down! Went with my buddy who is also trying to lose weight. We have plans to go tomorrow where he's going to lift with me.

Overall good and satisfying workout. I had to stop 15 minutes in though to use the restroom though. I need to he sure that I do that before so I keep my heart rate up longer.

You know, I gotta say how proud I am of you all. Some of you have been with this thread since the beginning and are rockin' it.

I haven't really stuck with this thread or with exercising but VERY recently (like within the last 2-3 months) have been holding onto weight as opposed to instantly metabolizing it.

Trying to form some better habits to keep it from forming a skinny-guy potbelly. :)

Woah, just jumped back to the beginning of this thread...

So yeah, I started this thread at 213 and am now sitting at 192, which is just awesome. At my worst was in 2010 and I was 225 and I can't even remember how I even let it get that bad.

Hehe, I've gained ~12 pounds since the beginning of this thread, which was kinda my goal, but now my goal is to make sure I can control it and hopefully make it look sexy. ;)

Maybe it's time I uploaded some new pics.

I'll show you mine if you show me yours. :unibrow:

I have been doing more (but still not swimming enough!) and just haven't been consistent enough to make a good update. I regret not making clearer goals when I started/keeping a regular plan. Gonna try to change that.

Okay, here we go.

Weight: 192.2
BMI: 25.3
BF%: 19%

A lot of the weight I lost in my hips and legs actually. Went down from a 36 to a 33 inch waist. Could totally use more lifting (DO U EVEN LIFT). But yeah. I guess I can pull off those straight leg fits instead of those loose/relaxed ones.

Still rockin' the vegetarian thing. I've also been focusing more on doing a lot less processed foods too. Still, I can't break up with my girl Pizza and as long as I've been consistently going to the gym and eating healthy, I see no problem occasionally having a slice or two. There's also great vegan pizza near me, so I feel that's OKAY.

Been really pushing for cardio these last few weeks, mainly because I've been somewhat lazy when it comes to lifting and not wanting to stand in a sea of bros near the free weights.

Could use more sleep though.

4 of 7

Lunges, squats and leg lifts. I had to use the rail to make it down the stairs. Feels good but also horrible.

Tomorrow's going to he a long day.

Edit: damn bannahands.

I mean daaaaaaaaayum

Its gonna be hard to get to the gym today. I'm so behind on getting my place ready to move. I need to go home, spend at least two hours working on that before I can let myself do something else. I still really want to make my goal though because its easy for keep to talk myself out of stuff but hard to talk myself into keeping good habits up.

update:

Basically did the opposite of working out today. Went to deliver some healthy food to a friend of mine who is also working out with me. I've noticed how he's been having trouble eating decently, so I got him some stuff. I ended up staying a bit and visiting. We were watching Happy Endings and one thing led to another and we ended up....having pizza.

my father, a certified personal trainer, showed me some simple weight lifting exercises last week. Today I added every other day weight lifting to my regime, in addition to running for 30 minutes twice a day. long story/short, oh my god ma limbs are jelly. did I mess something up?

No. I think it's pretty normal to jelly-fy when you first start exercsing. I mean, you're body isn't used to it yet. And really, my limbs still go jelly and I've been exercising for a while now.

You're doing right things, I promise!!

Bones: However I am going to have to punish my body today for my minds indiscretions yesterday.

Raidrinn: Now you sound like a religious nutcase...

Bones: Hey we all need a god sometime, it just so happens my body is a temple and the great and powerful barbell demands a blood sacrifice!
....sweet mama, did that just exit my mouth?....

Raidrinn: well played...also yes....

Bones: HAHAHAHAHAHA, is it sad that my masochism has led me to a runners high from punishing my body with exercise? Wait, don't answer that...

this folks is why getting me to exercise was a bad idea...

As of yesterday, shortly after getting in from the gym. Still no weight loss :rage:, but my lifting has had exponential increases... mostly. I haven't been running for a little bit, which makes my signing up for a 5k next Saturday perhaps a little optimistic.

Then again, it's in memory of an officer who recently died from colon cancer, who happened to be a friend of mine. I sorta can't not run it.

man I wish I could like live near you OC, you would be a good kick in the ass training mentor w/e for my lifting and running, all my friends here make fun of me for being fat, I am weak as shit and can only run for about an hour at a time. I am told you are suppose to be able to bench your own body weight but that feels nuts. I am benching 125 right now as a beginner and to bench my body weight I would have to bench 225.

Do yourself a favor.

Get yourself a copy of Starting Strength. I got mine on my Kindle, and read it cover to cover twice before I entered the weight room. I was inspired by a friend of mine who was 315 or 325 last year. He just hit 220, and is starting to resemble some kind of balding Viking.

This is NOT EVERYTHING you will EVER need in a weightlifting guide. What it does is lay a SOLID foundation for everything you do that comes afterwords. It is intended for the weightlifting novice. He explains the big 5 main barbell exercises, how to do them correctly, how your body should look as you perform each one, at each stage.

I'm still only a couple weeks in, and I'm starting to see/feel the difference. I have done 4 of the 5 exercises so far. I can tell you now that I'm still not certain I could bench my bodyweight, but I don't care at this point. Because each workout, I add another 5, 10, or 20 pounds onto my exercises, and my gains keep increasing. And if they don't increase, that's reassuring, because that means I've gotten out of the complete newbie phase, and the fun stuff can begin.

You have it in you to do great things, and being bigger, you actually have it easier with regards to weight-lifting: your body has already shown it can store the energy it will need. Now all you need to do is make your body work.

Don't worry about how you look in the weight room. Study the exercises. Don't rush yourself. It doesn't matter if the guy who came before you slapped 3 45s on each side of the bar before he hit the rack, and made it look easy. It doesn't matter if the woman next to you does more squats with a heavier weight, while you're struggling with a couple of dimes on the bar.

What matters is that you keep trying, and keep doing the exercise RIGHT. The gains will come. The fat will melt, if you're working hard. Your body WILL adapt, you WILL increase your gains, and in the span of a few WEEKS you will see drastic improvements.

Just imagine what you'll see after a year.

Oh so you're back into running, feeling pretty good. Here, have some achille's tendonitis.

so been lifting and running on the elliptical, gained 10 lbs >_> I have been eating good and sleeping good. BOOM, I have no idea how it happened, only thing I can figure is muscle mass gain from the addition of lifting.

Have you lost size? Remember, absolute weight means next to nothing as muscle gains and other changes can push your weight up while your figure gets lean and mean.

When I was at my physical peak 2 years ago I was 185 lbs. Now after slacking off for two years I'm 170lbs. Size wise I am a lot more flabby and have a much bigger waist then I did when I was 185lbs.

well yeah I did gain another inch on my belt in the last week. I should say that my belt can cinch tighter and my arms circumfrance is noticably large to people(people have noticed muscle mass gain)
