The Status of Zaptronic Comics - Make Way for Geek Life!

Putting this out tonight due to a badass case of insomnia.

You might have noticed that I didn't post a new Zaptronic this weekend. Well, there's a reason, and I like to think it's a good one.

Without giving too much away, I'm part of a little project to grow our community. I'll leave it at that. As part of this project, I'm starting work on a brand new webcomic, tentatively titled Geek Life. With any luck, this will be our PVP. By that, I mean all of us. Part of this comic will be fake comic books, and on occasion, I'll take member-submitted scripts (2-3 pages) and bring them to life. I make no promises about a daily schedule, but I'm hoping I've built a memorable cast that will explore all things geek. Expect previews soon.

Due to this new creative direction, I'm putting Zaptronic on hold indefinetely. I had plans to ressurect Pixel, and I might be able to update it on occasion, but Geek Life will be my main focus.

This is one of my most ambitious ventures yet. If you happen to have a comic idea, you might want to plot out a teaser-style script. Just sayin'.

I'm thinking pre-Kurtz went crazy. You had to be around in the early days to remember that, back when the comic and the Image forums were fun on the bun.

But I digress... I hope you will finish Henry VIII someday, though... I like how you portrayed him as a chauvinistic guido douchebag XD

Finished drawing the first page, so I'll toss up some teasers this week, maybe lay out some of the cast. I've got an iPad arriving next week, and I've seen a few art apps that practically gave me a technorection, so there's gonna be some wild experimentation.

I got a the package deal that ShopNBC was offering this weekend. Comes with a case, keyboard, decent stylus, etc...

Procreate, which looks fantastic, is only five bucks, so yeah, I'll be springing for one.

I've known a few girls that look like that. Just aiming for a little geek authenticity. We've got about thirty Wyatt's here alone, and very likely at least one Gus.

I only bring it up given this forum's connection with Kurtz, plus the fact that The Tastemaker has been none to keen on past webcomics he feels are cribbing his work.

I'm former Bomb Shelter - he pretty much hates all of us to begin with. Some of our members kinda publicly called him on his bullshit this one, two, three times or so.

Never intended to borrow or steal from him, or even draw influence from his work. I take pride in originality, so if he bitches, I'll call him on it.

Two pages drawn It's actually kind of ironic. I'm drawing on those formatted comic book boards, the largest size I've ever worked on, and I'm finishing them faster than I ever have. I'll have to see how my wand scanner handles piecing that together, but it's been pretty good - it's what I was using for Zaptronic.

Also, I can confirm that I'm aiming for a mid-October launch, so I will be posting more teaser material in this thread in the coming days.

I'm redrawing the pages I've done so far on my iPad. I might take this digital. Working with Strip Designer is making it very easy to letter and format a page. All I have to do is draw the panel in Artstudio and save it as a PNG, then just piece it together.

And maybe some color?
