Hey people.

After re-reading the wonderful Alice and Kev blog, I've decided to restart a Halforum House of my very own.

For those who weren't around for the first couple, the idea is simple: I'll take the first 7 people who apply here, create simulated versions of them with similar appearances and personality traits, and move them all into a house together. I'll largely let them do whatever they want around the house and the neighbourhood, and "blog" and screenshot their activities.

Let me know if you want in!

All of the traits and lifetime wishes are listed here. Please select 5 traits (try to keep a reasonable mix of "positive/negative") and a related lifetime wish for yourself.

Also describe your physical appearance or post a photo or somethin'.

I've also named discovered stars and celestial bodies after forumites, such as a red dwarf star I called Nihsen Prime.

Britta Kigo is in her teenage years and has adopted her mother's tendency to streak her hair with bright colours and start arguments with the other kids.

Ross: I'm not sure you can aspire to be a composer without the virtuoso trait. But I can check.

Additionally, I'd like to avoid "Living in the Lap of Luxury" since a house with this many people (and probably a cheat code so you don't all immediately starve to death) will probably rack up the cash obscenely fast.

Vyta seems to have her photo albums restricted on Facebook and I have only a slight idea of what she looks like!

Dave and Droll are pretty accurate though, and Dave's wearing something similar to his Bandstand DJ portrait.

Qonas: Your loadout doesn't work either. Jack of All Trades suggests having to work at several jobs, and your character seems to have lifetime aspirations that can involve never having to be near other people (ie. fishing, gardening, perfecting logic and athletic skills, etc.)

Shego: I basically built you guys a big house and furnished it pretty good, got everyone's style down pretty good (ie. Your bedroom feature black wallpaper with green flames, Rasputin's has a telescope and cloud wallpaper, Shannow's has a bar).

After that I used the motherlode cheat to give you guys enough money to move there, and then the familyfunds cheat to remove most of your change, leaving you with only just enough to pay your first couple bills.

First update is upcoming, uploading screenshots now.

Pretty amazingly in depth with some "control" over your Sims and some good writing talent.

The Halforumites move in on their first day. Usually they take a few minutes to get oriented and check out a few things around the new house. Most of them did this, While Shego's insane trait IMMEDIATELY made her scrounge through the trash.



Here's a view of the entire house. The bedrooms belong to (ordered from top right to bottom left) Qonas (top), Vyta (bottom), Dave, Shego, Droll, Gusto, Ross, and Shannow. We also have 4 identically decorated bathrooms and one huge double-kitchen. The huge fenced-in front area will eventually become a deck/pool/barbecue area, once you guys save up.



The group immediately sets out on their first tasks. Here we have Qonas and Vyta reading on Gusto's couch:



...And Droll reading on Dave's couch while Gusto hits up some vidja games:



Meanwhile, Shego and Shannow both get entry level jobs as criminals, then step outside to play a little game of tag. Notice that Shego, being insane, is wearing her formal dress.



Dave gets a job as a paperboy on his way to becoming a journalist, then steps outside to call his new boss and discuss bathtubs.



Ross goes to the theatre to get his first job in the music career, then hangs outside to mingle with some of the locals.



Back at the house, Gusto notices Vyta painting on the easel in Qonas' room, and realizes that both of them have the Artistic trait! The characters immediately start discussing fine art:



And Dave returns to brighten Droll's day, and starts thinking about her... A lot. Maybe she shouldn't have gone into his room....

Vyta watches Ross jam as Shannow sneaks up to scare her. Gusto sees what's happening but decides not to interfere. Dave reads and Qonas watches TV in the next room.



Droll makes salad for everyone but decides to pass on eating and read instead. Gusto unwisely decides to make his own dinner and burns it.



Shego lures Qonas into her room. Check.

Aw, I wanted to be in a sim house.

Can we build a whole neighborhood of sim houses representing halforum? I have no idea how the sims works.

Alternately, lots of people have the game - just set up a a bunch of different halforums houses, and then 'share' the characters between the games (I think they are NPCs on other computers?).

I dunno. Lots of people are interested, but there's only 7 slots...

*the halforums house residents were on their way home from a hard day's work, as they entered the driveway they notice that the resident homeless men outside known as "Steinman" and "Silver Jelly" were suddenly not there anymore.... it was a strange thing as they had been there every moment of everyday without fail.

Suddenly, they were greeted at the door by Shegokigo.

"Didn't you go to work today?" they asked

"Not today, I decided to make a feast for all!" she replied gleefully.

Their noses were filled with delcious delictable aromas as they entered the house closing the door behind them.... the homeless men soon faded from their thoughts*

"You are the reason I drink, Shannow."



Shego gets up bright and early the next morning (having slept in her clothes) and sneaks into Shannow's room to watch him sleep.



Dave wakes up Droll to tell her about a wish he made on a star. She just wishes he would put on some fuckin' pants.



Breakfast this morning: Burnt Macaroni a la Gusto.



Shego's mildly threatens violence in a game of chess against Droll in her nightgown.



Meanwhile, Vyta is nowhere to be seen as the guys crowd into her room for some kinda Underpants Party.



As Shego and Shannow head off to work (read: illegal activities), Droll and Dave begin working on their writing careers. Dave manages to write the first few chapters of his book but spends most of the day reading, while Droll finishes an entire book and can now expect to get 6 weeks worth of royalties. The rest of the gang spends a little part of their day working on skills but later just hangs out in Gusto's room to play video games.







That night, Gusto is trying really hard to sleep, but Vyta's Childish trait keeps making her sneak into his room to make faces at herself in the mirror.

Day 3 begins when people stop being polite and start getting REAL. Shannow and Ross are finally officially enemies, after Shannow fulfilled his "Imply Someone's Mother is a Llama" wish:



Meanwhile Gusto and Droll finally get a chance to talk. Combine Gusto's Good and Friendly traits, and their mutual appreciation for the arts, and Gusto is now friends with everyone in the house.



The same cannot be said for Droll and Qonas, after she humiliates him in a game of chess after he's been practicing since moving day.



Shannow continues making his presence known around the house as he destroys Droll's computer (and later, Gusto's TV).



But Qonas is determined to raise his Handiness skill, so he lends a hand.



Meanwhile, Gusto and Droll become even better acquainted.



Where the hell is Shego during all of this!? Well, while Shannow was skipping out on his scheduled heist to stay home, get drunk, and systematically destroy every computer, television and shower on the property, Shego's boss gave the heist job to her instead. She fulfilled it and then... broke into a warehouse to read.

(FUN FACT: This is the same warehouse Alice once tried to squat in.)



Qonas tired himself out trying to fix everything and ended up calling a repair person to do the job before going to bed. Shego returns late from the heist and the warehouse to find Kindra in her bedroom. They have a brief but friendly conversation before she finishes her work and leaves...



...whereupon Shego changes into her formal gown and crawls into bed.

Oh I'm not eating Dave, no worries. Besides, older meat is just fine when tenderized with a hammer for a good few hours.

A new day dawns, and we find that Dave is either still alive or some kinda burnt waffle eating zombie. Ross finishes his breakfast and begins reading a book he got from work in order to increase his job performance.





And Ross makes a friend! HUGS!



Also, another friend. No hugs though (yet!).



Gusto and Vyta decided around now that they wanted to get jobs as well, and got jobs in the Political and Medical careers, respectively.

Droll doesn't seem to think Vyta's last move was particularly well thought-out, in any case.



Dave and Ross got promoted today too, and Shannow got a small raise!

Droll and Qonas are still unemployed, but Droll is a published author and Qonas can repair household stuff for free. He also enjoys FISHING.



At about this point, I got a notice saying that Shego's boss had died. Pretty mysterious, if you ask me. I mean the guy was old, yeah, but he died while both he and Shego were at work....

Eh, it's probably nothing. Just a coincidence right!?

Dave and Qonas go to eat breakfast and discover that both refrigerators have spoiled food in them.





Droll tries to discuss football with Ross but he seems almost completely uninterested.



Droll's been cooped up in the house lately writing her book, and has started to go stir crazy. I sent her to the bookstore to pick up some recipe books and a fishing book for Qonas.



Qonas proudly mounts is first catch in the kitchen. IT'S A START, PEOPLE.



Shego spent several hours in holding last night, but they were unable pin anything on her and let her go.

She's in a pretty sour mood.

Ross' guitar playing cheers her up for a little while...



...until Shannow comes along and pokes the angry bear.



This pushes Shego over the edge.

She chases down Shannow and starts by insulting his childishness, and mocks his ambition.

The two don't get along very well.





All this bickering doesn't seem to disturb Vyta preparing for work by reading medical texts, or Gusto working on his speech.



Dave got asked to work late at the newspaper today, and has to go to bed early. Qonas is being a dick by playing loud video games in his room.



The ladies enjoy some chess before bed.



And Shannow, having been involved in several arguments now, hits the gym for a while. It's only a matter of time until he has to actually fight someone, after all.

Yeah come to think of it, Shannow has never played on Gusto's video game system... He played on Droll's computer for a while before he busted it, but not so much with the gaming. There are no comics in game, eiter, and you're the only character who has done NO reading.

Lotta dancing though. Sometimes I'll see you dancing in Vyta's room, scroll away to something more interesting for a couple in-game hours, then go back and you'll STILL be workin' it. Completely alone.

It's been pretty much decided that the three skills Qonas wants to master are Handiness, Fishing, and Logic.

And he gets pissed off when anyone suggests he isn't FANTASTIC at all of them.

I swear, his hubris is gonna kill him when he tries to repair a stereo in the shower or something.

My money is on Qonas dying first.

I'm not gonna be making people unless they're gonna be part of the household. Making accurate people is too much work to just dump them in a house somewhere and hope they wander by.

Gusto's late for work!

He manages to get there before anyone notices, but Ross, however, decides to skip an entire day of work. Any more of tat and he may lose his job.



Shannow wakes up late after a night of drinking and finds himself in the awkward position of having to make his own food. For the first time ever.



Here we see Ross skipping his music-playing job to stay home and play music. Droll asks Shego how she slept last night, leaving herself wide open for innuendo.



Droll starts writing her third book as Shego begins to realize she turned the treadmill on too high.



Qonas goes fishing in a new place. He eventually catches several goldfish, one of which he mounts in the kitchen after stuffing the rest in the fridge.



Vyta continues to work on her paintings (the one on the left is hers too) as Shannow visibly sweats while working out.



Dave and Qonas get in a fight about something. Neither of them are sure what exactly.



BUT LOOK AT THAT OUTRAGE!



After the fight, Qonas goes to try to fix Dave's computer. Maybe Dave was working on something really important?



And then he places on is most recent catches, a rainbow trout, in a fishbowl in his room. It was a productive day for him.

The household starts off the day right, by eating a healthy breakfast. Shego starts off the day weirdly, by playing chess by herself in her bathing suit.



Shego gets a mission at work to drop off a "package" at City Hall, which she does while Gusto is working there. She calls her new boss with good news when the job is done.





In the meantime, Gusto safely returns from work and happily announces his promotion to his best friend Droll.



She responds flirtatiously.



Instead of giving the delivery job to Shannow, the Leader sent him home with some reading to do. His job performance is technically higher than Shego's in the illegal arts, but she's the only one who does extra evil work outside of her shift.



After finishing her job, Shego goes and laughs at the grave of her old boss.



Feeling particularly insane on this new day (it is now 1am) Shego returns home, changes into her swimwear, and burns some hot dogs.



Not satisfied with her burnt hot dogs, she leaves them on the kitchen table and instead happily makes some waffles.



Vyta wanders into Dave's room and wakes her up. Dave is not creepy at all.



The look on Gusto's face says it all, but Vyta has no qualms with vocalizing their mutual disgust. Both with Shego's burnt hot dog breakfast, and the slew of dirty dishes she left in the kitchen before finally going to bed.

Today's update is forthcoming, and as mentioned in Dave's HFouse thread, I may try to vidcap an entire day's event and dub my commentary overtop.

Shego finally cleans up all her dirty dishes, but breaks the sink in the process. She's been up all night so she goes to bed, leaving a big mess. Dave grudgingly decides to clean up the puddle by himself. He is the most overworked Sim in the house, and it's finally his day off.

Qonas came by later to fix the sink, further increasing his handiness skill.



Droll and Gusto share a hug during the course of their normal morning conversation/flirting.



Dave decides to do some fun overtime work, by heading to the theatre to do a movie review. Ross is in another room at the theatre at the same time, jamming with other members of his fledgling orchestra.



Vyta and Gusto spend their Saturday afternoon painting and listening to classical music. Droll and Qonas have their rematch in chess, and Qonas edges her out. Qonas now feels confident enough that he can start taking on citywide competitors in the future.



Dave gets home from his movie in time for dinner leftovers, which it turns out have gone bad. Most of the household is too sleepy to bother cooking anything new, and decide to go to bed hungry.



Perhaps irritated by their hunger, Qonas and Shannow finally vent their frustrations with one another. Shannow insults Qonas by calling him childish and a baby.



And then things get violent!

Shannow gets Qonas in a headlock...



And then drops him on his ass triumphantly.



Looks like all that working out paid off! Qonas slumps off to bed, and Shannow treats himself to an alcoholic drink before doing the same.

I took video using the in-game capture, and recorded my voice simultaneously by running Audacity in the background. Then I synched 'em up using a combination of Windows Movie Maker and Audacity.

I actually had a bit of trouble because I set the max video capture time in-game to be 15 minutes and I ended up going way over that. So there was like a minute and a half of commentary that did not have associated video, and everything in the latter half was THAT far off-sync. So it took me quite a bit of editing to get it synced properly, but there's still a [fairly boring] minute that got cut out.

Won't be a problem next time. If there IS A next time.

Alright, how about this:

I could make weekly video updates, probably on Fridays, and cut them down to only the particularly interesting bits, rather than keeping the whole live commentary (or heck, maybe keep both?). Kinda like a highlights reel, much like my screenshot updates.

That way I can keep a video to 10 minutes or less, while focusing on the bits with good commentary and interesting events instead of showing everyone eating breakfast and showering in real time.

Heh, well I can't guarantee you'll get there, since I'm a lot more lax about controlling the people in this household. Getting people to the top of their career tracks typically involves a good deal of management.

The two most likely people to achieve their goals are Shannow (have a household value of over $100,000) and Gusto (make at least 20 friends).

And Shannow comes home from work. Here is his Thug uniform:



Once it's daylight and everyone is awake, Gusto and Droll resume their flirting. In Dave's room. While Dave watches.

In his underwear.



(Incidentally, every time they flirted in front of him, Dave's relationships with both Droll and Gusto went down.)

Droll starts to get stir crazy in the house again, so she heads to the bookstore for more recipes. She now knows how to make cookies and fish and chips. (Qonas better keep stocking the fridge with fresh fish!)



The forumites took too long to pay their bills! Although Ross eventually DID pay them, the Repo Man comes to take his telescope.



Shannow officially declares Qonas his nemesis. Qonas is happy to comply.



The two listen to Ross' newest song as Shego happily jogs away in her evening gown.



They get into a fight again, and this time Qonas emerges victorious! Back to the gym with Shannow!




Ross makes small talk with the maid, Lakshmi, and invites her to hang out after she's off work. The two talk for a while.



Then Dave comes home, sporting his classy new Reporter uniform. Lookin' sharp!



Dave proofread some stories his editor gave him while Droll chats with Lakshmi in the next room.



Shego completely confuses Lakshmi when she asks her questions about dead fish, and then immediately asks if she's single. Turns out the new maid is a bit of a Flirt!




The entire group gathers in the kitchen to have some of Gusto's grilled cheese sandwiches.



Once night falls, Shego changes into HER Thug uniform and runs to catch the ride to work.



Vyta paints stick figures of Harry Potter and Hermione. Or so it seems!



Shego realizes that the other Evil woman she met is, in fact, her new boss! Her and Shannow leave the criminal headquarters after a long night of work, and she has a new "package" to drop off at City Hall in the morning.

Dave commented on the Podcast last Monday about how my SIM changes clothes at the most awkward times, especially during bedtime, that he though Gusto was controlling it. I was under the impression that it was simply an effect of the "Insanity" trait and does it automatically?

Yup. The insanity trait makes a person wear any kind of clothes for any kind of activity. We still haven't seen Shego put on her gym clothes to go swimming or anything like that, but she has worn her bathing suit to work and hasn't worn her normal daytime clothes in a few days.

Shannow is in a rotten mood after his shift ends so he wanders in at 4 am to fix himself a drink before bed. Other members of the house such as Vyta and Dave are already awake and getting ready for work.



After a couple days of only fighting people and repairing things, Qonas decides the only way to sooth his jangled nerves is to catch him some fish.



After sleeping the morning away, Shego heads to City Hall to bribe some city officials. While she's there, Gusto gets promoted to Campaign Intern, and must brush up on some city codes.




Gusto finishes his reading about the same time Shego finishes her meeting, so he suggests they head to the diner for dinner.



Qonas returns from fishing feeling good. He barges into Shannow's room and wakes him up with some yelling.



But this quickly leads to Shannow kicking his ass yet again!



Droll spends all day writing her newest drama novel, "The Great Forum Nuke", and gets really stressed out. She decides to make some drinks at Shannow's bar.



Qonas breaks Dave's computer and despite being very tired and in a sour mood, repairs it without much problem. This makes him happy. He's getting better!



Shannow gets promoted to Getaway Driver at the end of his shift...



...whereas Shego just gets herself arrested again. She finally gets out of holding at 5am, and the sun is already rising.



Tune in tomorrow for a video update of some kind, hopefully featuring at least SOME Ross and Vyta!

How interesting, my SIM got a new talent as soon as Droll got her hair color....

Back in the hizzouse!

Droll makes some cosmetic changes first thing in the morning.



And immediately gets in a fight with Qonas. This is becoming a disturbing trend.




Gusto intends to do his duty as a friend while DRoll dreams of teaching Qonas a lesson:



Gusto's friendly nature tells him to help cheer Droll up. The romance continues.



Shego's joke about the workplace falls flat for Shannow, who has more important things to do...



Shego calls Lakshmi te maid over for a visit while Shannow tends to his important business. Qonas' skin crawls as Shannow enters the room...



...and promptly hands him his ass.



Lakshmi arrive and Shego successfully tries out her best material.



Whereas Shannow almost instantly becomes enemies with her. Which kinda strains his and Shego's friendship.
