Red Sox legend and one of the best people in baseball is gone today. Johnny Pesky had a passion for the game like few others, both as a player and an instructor. He was part of the staff in his nineties! It's a big loss. Pesky would usher in the season by announcing "Play ball!" at the beginning of the first home game. Every time I see a ball go off Pesky's pole, I'm going to think of those good times that Johnny provided with such youthful enthusiasm.
