Next Video Game Film: Dead Space

Looks like Dead Space is going to be brought to the big screen, as directed by D.J. Caruso. If you don't know him, he also directed Disturbia and Eagle Eye.

I enjoyed the hell out of the "Prequel" anime for the game. I'd welcome a movie.

I loved the game and the anime. The movie should be pretty cool.

Actually, it sounds like studios may be somewhat wising up to this fact.

Next summer, we'll be getting Prince of Persia, which is directed by Mike Newell (he did Donnie Brasco and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire). Sam Raimi is getting to helm World of Warcraft and I've heard that James Wan (the guy who directed the first Saw film) is getting to write and direct Castlevania.

Hopefully, this is a good indicator that studios may try to give video game films a real chance to succeed.

You are right about it, but I'm hesitant because I've been hearing some pre-production troubles. Mostly that Gore Verbinski wants to shoot the film in the US, but the studio wants to shoot in Australia because it's cheaper.

Still, can't forget Bioshock with Gore Verbinksi.

I don't feel that location discussions aren't that much of an issue to warrant any red flags. Verbinksi = Pirates of the Caribbean, let the man do what he wants!
