Mirrors

So I've been tinkering and playing around with an idea I've had rattling in my head for awhile. I won't go into too much detail, but I'll say two things: 1) It's a teen series (likely two books). 2) It heavily involves mirrors.

One thing I'm trying to figure out is what places in the world have no mirrors in them at all. Not necessarily reflective surfaces, but specifically mirrors. The only thing I've come up with so far is a movie theatre. A friend of mine suggested padded cells or detention cells. But wouldn't those have at least a bathroom mirror or something?

Any other ideas or suggestions?

Forests, no good reason for a mirror to be in a forest!

QUUUUUUUUUUUUUEstion, does this story have anything to do with * Omitted by request of author*.

Church?

I'm not sure the detention facility or padded cell would have mirrors even in the bathroom because of the risk that someone may harm themselves or others.

Padded cell probably wouldn't. Detention centers sometimes have reflective pieces of stainless steel in place of actual mirrors, to keep them from being broken by inmates.

I would like to know if you are making a distinction between "reflective surfaces" and "silver-backed glass," because there are so many naturally reflective surfaces.
Also, all it takes is one purse with a compact in it or a wallet with a grooming kit and you have a mirror right there in church or whatever. Anywhere a car/motorcycle can go, there are mirrors.

I remember when my great-grandfather died, they covered all the mirrors in the house.

Southerners have odd customs.

churches/most places of worship, casinos, doctor's offices (variable), funeral homes, hospitals, schools/universities (except the washrooms of course), libraries (plausible, but not necessarily), most non-clothing retail businesses (grocery store, liquor store, hardware store, book store etc.), most corporate offices... I'm sure there are others.

I don't know if this is common, but most liquor stores around here have those convex corner mirrors.
