Ontario's court of appeals has ruled that brothels are legal. Solicitation for prostitution in a public place remains illegal though. Sex trade workers may now run a place of business and provide staff for those workers.

The funny comments so far on radio are:

"Based upon the existing legislation it was the correct decision. The government should appeal this decision or draft legislation that makes sense. And while we wait for these results lets tax it."

Ontario Court of Appeal greenlights brothels, sweeps aside many of Canada’s anti-prostitution laws

Prostitution law: Ontario's top court allows brothels, but soliciting ruled illegal
So we got that going for us, I guess.

Only if you're really, really into "cheese curds" and "gravy".

I absolutely don't disagree with legalized, regulated prostitution the same way I would absolutely support legalized, regulated marijuana sales in this country. It makes sense, it adds tax dollars to the country, I personally think it would make the country a fucking safer place.

I know nothing of what meme you speak. I just know the phrase "Could care less" makes no sense whatsoever and should be "couldn't care less" in order to actually convey what its meant to.

Well, as long as the brothels keep the sex slaves, under aged kids and pimps out of the business... I don't have much of a problem with legalized prostitution.

Man I could make a rant like this with HALF the budget he got.

How often do the women in brothels get check ups? You never know when condoms can break, or when someone's horrible vengeful friend pokes holes in them so that the person who uses the condoms impregnates a hooker causing the person to have to work double-shifts to support his brothel baby. Of course since this is Canada and people are supposedly nicer up there, there's probably less chance of this happening so not as much need I assume.

Well then now who's the idiot? lol
(all of us. The answer is all of us. Because he makes money ranting on the internet, while we PAY to use the internet for ranting.)

Yes.

Also, in regards to prostitutes getting impregnated because of your shitty friends: I'm pretty sure the brothel would provide the condoms and other contraceptives, not the patron.

Okey dokey! And I don't have the shitty friends, my friends have the shitty friends. And yet whenever I wanna hang out with my good friends, there they is.

Judging from the pick up attempts on my friend while we were down there, brothels are unrequired.

My understanding, coming from a Stephen Fry series on the United States, is that the law in Las Vegas is similar to what the Ontario law currently is until this amendment goes through. prostitution is legal, but solicitation still isn't. That's why there's so many "escort" services there just like there are so many "massage parlours" in Toronto.
But outside of Vegas, in the rest of Nevada, Brothels are legal.

#39

HCGLNS

HCGLNS

Not sure about the current laws in Ontario, but in Nova Scotia enforcement officers from the department of labour can enter any workplace and conduct inspections for safety and levy fines on the premises. This new law might make it illegal for police officers from randomly entering brothels to search for crimes being committed but it would do nothing to defer safety officers. Could we see a swing of who controls the inspection of these sites if this continues further?

I think this is a brilliant idea if the right policies are put in place (STD testing, contraceptives, age checks, etc.).

What are the chances of this stretching to Newfoundland? Not the I would be a patron...but I have a enough sex positive friends to make this a viable business. :p
