My improv troupe has been asked to do a charity event on June 2. We aren't getting paid, but it allows us a chance to get our names out there. We'd like to have some promotional items to give out but aren't sure what a good item would be that would be inexpensive, flashy and able to be had by the end of May.

Any ideas?

Additionally, what do you think a good logo would be for a group named W.I.T. (Workhouse Improv Troup)?

I'm not sure how inexpensive or quickly produced these can be, but some promotional items that I've received that have actually done their job (made me remember the company/actually KEEP the item) include:

  • Notepads
  • Keychain/Bottle-openers
  • Pens (Good pens!)
  • Edible Underwear.

Improv group...improv...got it. Take a sheet of copier paper, print up dotted lines for a paper airplane, stamp it with TOP SECRET: Iranian Fighter Plane Assembly Kit. Then just slap your groups name somewhere with a copyright symbol, and blammo! Quick, easy, funny promo stuff!

What Bumble said is pretty standard, but I have to say - actually GOOD pens do tend to stay around.
What Zappit said is funny and easy, may get you remembered for a while but won't leave any long-term impression, of course - once folded, the appeal is gone.
Depending on the type of people you want to appeal to, something I find gets used a lot and sticks around forever, is...err, don't know the english word. Sort of a saucer with holes in it, you can put those typical plastic cups in from coffee machines. Inflatable (for beer on festivals) or slightly sturdier (for coffee in office environments), both see a lot of use - and we constantly run out.

I missed you.

Also, condoms with logo/name printed on it in luminescent paint. Don't mock it, I've seen it. Very efficient in linking your name to good experiences, or something. Unless you're aiming at minors and/or married couples and/or the deeply religious.

Lol. Seriously though, condoms can work, especially if you get some jokes or something printed on the packaging. One of our con guests had those and they were a funny hit.

Coffee Sleeves. One side, "SAVOR THE WIT" and on the other side "W.I.T.", your troupe's full name, and any webpresence or other info you have. Can have 'em be cardboard (like the ones you get at *$'s), or some neoprene thingy you can get via a catalog.

I like the tattoo thing, but we don't have a logo yet. We really need a WIT logo.
They have a lot of stock images you can use, and you can add text to them to add your name.

Otherwise just use Durr face or something.

I wouldn't use the Durr face because it's not Halforums - it's WIT.
