Mobo/GPU Problems

I have a little problem with my Mobo/GPU.
I am using a MSI B150M Mortar motherboard and a rx 480 8gb GPU.

When I start my PC, the mobo wont recognize the GPU and I get no signal to my monitor, but after I press the restart button once or twice it will start properly. Any ideas what could be the problem?
BIOS and GPU drivers are up to date.

What brand of GPU? It looks like both MSI and XFX have some issues with rx480s doing exactly what you're experiencing. One person said they managed to fix it by replacing their CMOS battery, but unfortunately, it looks like most other people either had to RMA the card and hope that they got a working replacement, or they were just SOL.

Yeah. It is MSI :(

Thing is, when I have been running it on my old ASrock mobo, there were no problems at all. Now after switching to a intel MSI mobo, i got issues.

The RX480 has had trouble with the power delivery of certain PCIe slots. GPUs are not supposed to pull more than 75W via the slot, if they need more power they're supposed to pull the rest from auxiliary 6- or 8-pin connectors that usually plug into the back or top of the card directly from the PSU. This is an issue that was supposed to be fixed with the release of Catalyst 16.7.1 and later. If it's still giving you trouble, find the "compatibility mode" toggle in the driver settings and turn that on to force the power consumption back down under the spec (at the cost of a little performance).

I got version 17.3.3 and there is no more option for compatibility mode. I ordered a new mobo from Amazon, just to rule out motherboard errors/damage. will send my current board back if the new one fixes it (still inside the 14 day return time). If that wont fix it, then the GPU will be send back.

I tried looking around that board's manual to see if it would be possible to boost power to the PCIe slot, but I didn't see anything. What kind of PSU are you using? Did it just come with the case, or is it something beefy?

Yes, it should.
I hope it's the MLB, man. You should probably also check to see if the mfr of the video card has a video BIOS update out there, just in case.

I need a translator.

So, the mobo was the problem.Thank god I didnt have to send back my GPU, which would stop me from playing till i would have gotten an replacement back.
