Movie News & Miscellany

Francis Ford Coppola deserved a Deadpool-level "Fuck you, Francis", because that motherfucker hasn't had a successful movie since 1997 and he's just fucking bitter.

I liked James Gunn's response the best, in which he basically very politely asked, "Hey, do you guys remember when gangster movies were considered trash?"

Fucking heelarious that Clint Eastwood's new movie Richard Jewell is about the press smearing a man and ruining his life at the same time shows a female reporter, Kathy Scruggs, as trading sex for tips, something no one has ever claimed or insinuated happened. She's not alive to be mad about this because apparently the stress at covering this story crushed her health and she died in 2001.

“The film literally makes things up and adds to misunderstandings about how serious news organizations work,” said Riley. “It’s ironic that the film commits the same sins that it accuses the media of committing.”

Haven't seen it, despite being a huge Cats musical fan, but I've mostly heard it described as a strangely-sensual semi-bestial orgy since the tails and CGI are so much more evocative than regular old suits. Which, you know, sounds like something I'd watch for fun.

I think that's a very reductive view of the idea. Not all buddy cop movies are Lethal Weapon, not all westerns are John Wayne films, and not all Christmas movies are just remakes of Die Hard.
Sure, but look me in the eye and tell me you don't think they'd just make an Indiana Jones ripoff.

Honestly, Uncharted 4 is basically a Dirk Pitt Adventure, straight down to none of it being supernatural and it involving an intact period sailing vessel. But if I had to pick between the two series, I'd much rather have Raiders of the Lost Ark than Sahara.

Seriously, I think Jack Nicholson and Cesar Romero were the only healthy people to ever play the Joker on screen.

I didn't hear any problems about Heath Ledger on set, just that his performance was frighteningly intense. He wasn't doing crazy ass shit like this.

And he died while filming the mediocre at best Imaginarium of Dr Panassus, not Dark Knight.

I didn't mean his performance, he just had a lot of issues with substances etc. I meant healthy mentally for the most part. I'm pretty I've read somewhere that Heath Ledger said that being the Joker wasn't good for his mental state. I'm sure Jack Nicholson and Cesar Romero both have their whatevers, but they treated acting as a fucking comic book character like you should, a job.
