A lot of you might know much of this information, but it's still a neat read.

The corn lobby in the USA is unbelievably huge, and they work hard to make sure that their products, including corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup, are used everywhere, and disparaged nowhere.

It's interesting. I actually had no idea that that was the relationship with fat that we had with fructose.

Yep, and as soon as people did start disparaging high-fructose corn syrup, the corn lobby went on the offensive with a TV ad campaign about how corn syrup is just fine taken in moderation (which it may be, I'm not a nutritionist); and then, when that wasn't doing enough, tried to start up a campaign to change the name from "high fructose corn syrup" to "corn sugar."

I remember those tv ads. They were everywhere! "Sugar is sugar, your body can't tell the difference."

Yeah, I loved how they always set the concerned parent up as some psycho nut-job for not wanting their kids/themselves to be drinking soda, or eating popsicles, or any of the other products the ads featured, like only crazy helicopter parents would prefer that their kids eat more salad than junk food.

I've been trying to avoid high fructose corn syrup over the last three months, you'd be surprised what you can find it in. From nature valley bars to barbecue sauce.

I don't know about the article in the OP; this guy really sounds like an Atkins proponent.
