It was him and Johnny Bench as the best catcher in baseball for a lot of the 1970's, and he was hands-down the best in the 80's.
He will be missed.

That was a shame. He was the favorite player of my best friend in grade school.
On the plus side, his autographed Gray Carter rookie card just got a lot more valuable.
