February page-a-day (now with Actual Drawings™!)

My project this draw every day will be to produce a 29 page comic. I am cheating a little because I posted a few pages before. I will re-draw the ones I've already done, though.

Your previous year of the Pulp Style comic book covers was awesome. I look forward to this!

So, I've been reworking Fade a little. I really want to get back into it, but there just always seems to be something else I have to do. Here's a quick sketch of a manlier Holt:

And here's the cover of the page-a-day comic. I tried to emulate those line drawings that were pressed into the dayglo green faux leather covers of books under the paper slipcover:

thumbs up on manlier fade. Get back to that comic bro, or i'ma do it myself. And he will fight space toasters with guns.

I'm liking the look of that title page!

Sorry, I was traveling. Will post tonight.

Again, apologies. Unexpected death in the family. Trying to squeeze in some drawing. I usually love these draw every day challenges, and I am disappointed.

We'll be here when you get the chance, sir. For now, take care of yourself.

Like I said, this is a remake of something I started last Feb. Scanner didn't like sketchbook.

Bah. I rarely swear, but fuck this. Fuck it fuck it fuck it. I can't metaphorically get it up. I need some inspiration. Maybe I'll just draw porn.

Good, I can feel your anger. I am defenseless. Take your weapon. Strike me down with all of your hatred and your journey towards the dark side will be complete!

I can link you to the other forum but it might make you want to jam a sharpened pencil into your eye. Get inspired!

Working up something in ink. Drawing more or less directly in ink except for a few guide lines.

panel eyes are intense. Time to build some momentum!

Okay, redrew that gnarly hand, and sort of finished this sequence up. Going for quantity and composition rather than quality. Still drawing almost directly in ink for that Tolkeinesque flair (he embraced his mistakes as part of the work).

Gruesome AND physically impossible. Woo hoo!

Hah! Loved it

Oops. One page is out of order. I'd have to fix it in photoshop. The face-off is supposed to come before the throwing of the star.

by physically impossible, were you referring to the fact that his hand changes from left to right during the punch sequence?

#18

fade

Um... the rest of the comic takes place in the mirror universe. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Ha cha cha cha cha.

It was a fake out! They go to block the left, and BAM, you nail em with a right!

I don't know anything about naruto but is he really similar back-story-wise to harry potter?

serious question. no laughing.

Yes, except instead of Voldemort, it was a fox demon.

Fade, the strip needs a punchline.

#24

Yeah, the punchline was to ramble off the page, literally, but I ran out of steam.

Anyway, here's a scan:

And here's a rough sketch of a sequence.

My prediction: you read the bull-man's dialogue in Michael Dorn's voice.

Nope. Keith David.

What, nothing? I thought that last sequence was pretty cool, all due humility.

Story wise, I like it; I think it's a good bit. I like the artwork/layout too, except for that last frontal shot of bull guy. Horns shouldn't be pointing up like that, and his facial features seem too sharp... I saw the note where you said distinct human features, but to me it kinda looks more rat-like than bull/human hybrid. Of course, it might just be I'm too used to seeing the way Lars De Souza draws those bull guys in Looking For Group.

#29

Yeah, I disliked that last panel, too. I debated posting it or redrawing. I didn't have it at first, and I thought the dialogue needed to end on bull-man, not rat-man.

This sequence was from Fade, btw. I'm really trying to get back into it. I hate having gone from being in the top 10% of webcomics (according to the webcomic list), to basically dead.

I didn't want to start a new thread. Here are some doodles that weren't done in February:
