The EPIC WIN Thread 3: SON OF EPIC

We got the first $4400 worth of our furniture tonight! It came via some really crazy Ukrainian delivery guys, which was a good thing because the long part of the sectional was too long to stand up in the entry way and we had to pull it up onto the back balcony and bring it through the kitchen.

Last trip's load included all of the CD-ROMs I had collected into one location as I found them (I have a lot and they got separated. Whenever I would find a CD/DVD or jewel case, I would add it to that corner of my shelf to be sorted "later.").
While breaking down this pile to be stacked into a box for transport (and that eventual sort), I finally found the jewel case w/ keys for my copy of Warcraft III (which I haven't been able to finish my saved campaign due to not having the keys) AND I also found the sleeve with the key for my second copy of Diablo II:LoD. I have been missing both of these things for almost 10 years now, knew they were "somewhere," but now I know exactly where they are and it feels good to finally have closure.

First urban cycling of the season! Woo! Gawd, I missed biking! Halifax, fortunately, has a lot less snow than Fredericton. Plus, I honestly hated biking in Fredericton because anywhere worth biking was downtown, at the bottom of a very long, steep hill. Halifax, though, is a lot less hilly.

Today's ride: 7 km (appox. 4.35 miles). Not a long ride, but not bad for the first ride of the season. I had to get a new driver's license for this province.

Oh, how I missed zooming through traffic. I biked through Bayer's Lake area, which is a long 4-lane road with shopping areas on either side. And I was able to almost keep up with traffic. I forgot how much I enjoyed cutting across lanes while speeding along with traffic, too. I haven't done that since Toronto. Fortunately, drivers around here seem used to urban cyclists because they responded well to my signalling.

Oh, I'm back, baby.

I thought maybe it was something different in Canada. Here in HI bikes 20" and up have to be registered with the county. I've never seen that any place else.

My new 'board arrived!!! Meet my new baby:

It's an epic win because MUPPET BOARD! And also we got it brand-new for $250 less than it's supposed to cost! *Kermit arm flail celebration!!*

The scoring system must be very different from when I took it.
It's changed quite a bit. To put it in perspective the quantitative score of 167 is around a 790-800, puts you in the 95th percentile. (you can see some charts here: http://www.ets.org/s/gre/pdf/gre_guide.pdf)

Anyways, now we'll have to see if the university I am looking at will overlook my apalling undergrad GPA based on the GRE scores and my work experience, plus the grades in my last 60 hours (which are substantially higher)

Biked 7 KM to the gym today, and then worked out. The way there was generally downhill, but nowhere near as steep as Fredericton's hill. I had to walk part of the way back.

Not quite back into good biking shape again. Not yet.

The college I attended was happy to overlook my high school B+ average thanks to my ACT 93rd percentile test scores (with a 99 in sciences). So it couldn't hurt to try.

It all depends. Gre scores get you past the office of graduate studies screening process (and even then the departments may request applications that did not beat the threshold). We usually looked at the whole package. GRE scores were less important to me than coursework and grades and especially previous research. Writing samples really helped too. I put GRE scores a firm 4th place.

Ordination stole arrived in the mail today!
It's gorgeous!

Vestements are fucking expensive!
Especially when you're still a student!

But I do not care 'cuz my ordination stole arrived in the mail today! Woooo!

I know what you mean. It's like visiting Santa for the first time when you're little. You don't know whether you should laugh or cry or throw up.

I went with the "throw up" option after I had signed my paperwork.

Eeeeee

I mean...I'm so excited...but Ij ust keep spending more money because I'm like 'I can't take THIS old sofa/bedframe/dresser to the new place" and I'm just dizzy nad pregnant and beside myself.

Don't worry; the old furniture will work just fine in the new place. Unless you've got drawers of cash to spend, that feeling will last until the first mortgage payment comes out of your bank account. After that, the old stuff isn't that old.

Confirmation:
@Shegokigo arrives on Monday! She just barely made it in under the March deadline she set.

Side note: Kind of funny she'll be here on April Fools. Preemptive information right now, this is not a joke/prank. She really will be here all week. :D :D :D

Tell her to log in here, dammit, and tell us all about what she's been up to.

Well, what she can say without giving the police too much information. :p
