Just for history sake... they were hit with the double whammy... they changed the recipe and had a major strike/lockout back in the mid 70's. They lost a lot of customers from the taste change, then lost Liberals because of the strike and Conservatives when they found out that people making $17 an hour (back then) were on strike.

No, unfortunately; and we probably won't get to even really sit down and start planning it for the next couple months. I have a big presentation next week, I'll be TAing a class this semester, she'll be setting up stuff for starting vet school, we'll be taking a trip to Taiwan next month to visit her mom's friends and family, I have qualifying exams in three months, and we have to find a second car because we're moving 45 minutes away to be halfway between her vet school and my school.
We know it'll be back in California, though, so that's something!
Congratulations again, and I hope the planning goes smoothly! And her parents are excited, especially her mom...her mom's the only 'adventurous' one of the family, and is disappointed that nobody in her family wanted to go with her to the Night Market and try all these good foods with her. She took a shine to me a long while ago when she realized I'm unflappable when trying new foods, so I'm sure half the vacation will be trying new Taiwanese foods with her.

Been sitting on this for a while mostly because it just didn't feel real yet. As of December 17 I began full-time employment with IBM, after graduating with a B.S. in Computer Science from NCSU. Today is the first day that most people are back from their vacations so it finally feels like I started.

Despite having to spend two days in tests and getting blood transfusions... got to go somewhere awesome yesterday Last summer, I was one of the extras in a film production of a series of detective films based on a nationally acclaimed book series. Not really big internationally, but a big frickin' deal nationally. Before Christmas, I got an invitation to a pre-view of the film I was in, and that was yesterday
Had a lot of fun; the film was great and I spent a lot of time just trying to pick out people I knew from it - a lot of amateur actors from my region played minor, non-speaking roles or were extras. And there were a lot of national celebs at the viewing, so that added an additional layer of glamour on the whole thing - even though I had to restrain myself from throwing the mini-bottle of whiskey they handed to us when Timo Soini (Finland's version of Ron Paul) showed up At least I can now say I've now acted in a feature film.
The only downside was that apparently none of my friends got invited; I had a scripted part as an orderly, they were extras, background people, so they didn't get invitations
Which was rather of a bummer on the part of the production company.

Well, the premiere's tomorrow, but since it's a Finnish detective film, I don't see it having much chances of getting abroad. Not unless someone's going to take an interest in the cases of a shaggy, drinking private investigator. For those interested, here's the IMDb link.
