RIP my hard drive.
Not my main drive. It has been replaced for that many years ago. But it was still a good solid TB drive so I've been using it for storage. For something like ten years. Today it just crapped out right in the middle of me working on some things. I tried to save to it and all of a sudden started getting "specified a device that doesn't exist" errors. Tried to go to it through explorer, etc, restarted and it was gone. Caput. Can't be found.
I'm not even sure how much of all of what I lost. A ton of photos, some documents I'm sure I'll miss but can't think of right now, a large library of movies from back when people still used DVDs and I was ripping full image copies to build my library. ....And the porn, oh dear no... Not the porn!!!
Sorry that happened, man. After I experienced something similar I went the NAS route and never looked back. Synology makes some kick ass ones with all sorts of redundancies that protect your data.
