[Brazelton] Little Jimmy Dickens, 94

For a long time the Opry defended traditional country music. Tater was a key part of that tradition. He was the last of the generation that included Grandpa Jones, Mini Pearl, and Ernest Tubb. Honestly though it is hard to say that I'll miss him, I thought he was already gone.

I remember seeing him when I went to the Opry back in 1994. Yeah, this is a passing of legend in country music. As much as some of the older music of people like Ernest Tubb, Hank Williams, Grandpa Jones and such are somewhat derided among modern music critics, the stuff they put out was genuine. And popular. People in the south and mid-east US grew up listening to the Opry on weekends.

He will be missed.
