It was so fast in the real fight that no one noticed it was back of the head until after the fight was over. That gif is at like 1/2 speed at best.

From that angle, I could almost buy that it was in the neck, but whatever. Still badass.

it looks like when the strike hits at full power, it's right around his ear, but momentum (and the guy dropping like a stone) causes his elbow to continue to 'wrap around' to the back of his head.

I would call that a legal hit to the side of the head upon reviewing this gif.
